Course Curriculum Overview

DGI follows a semester-based examination system with mid-semester exams and end-semester exams for each subject. The mid-semester exams account for about 20-30% of the total marks, while the end-semester exams account for 70-80%. Additionally, there are internal assessments based on quizzes, assignments, and presentations, which contribute to the final grade. The exams themselves are generally challenging, particularly in core technical subjects like Mathematics, Control Systems, and Engineering Mechanics Course Curriculum and Exam System: Areas for Improvement--- 1.Curriculum Updates: While the curriculum offers a good foundation, there needs to be more emphasis on emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity. 2.Research and Advanced Topics: For students considering higher studies, the curriculum could incorporate more research-oriented courses and advanced subjects to prepare them for graduate-level work.

EXUBERANCE (Cultural Fest): Held in November, this cultural extravaganza includes performances, dance, music, drama, and art, attracting students from all over the region. Library and Learning Resources The library at DGI is well-stocked with a variety of books, journals, and digital resources. It offers a wide selection of engineering books, research papers, and e-journals, providing excellent support for academic and project work. Classrooms and Technological Facilities Classrooms are equipped with smart boards, projectors, and high-speed internet, enabling a more interactive and tech-driven learning environment. The labs are well-equipped, especially for technical disciplines like Computer Science and Electronics. Sports and Extracurricular Activities DGI promotes a balanced lifestyle by offering facilities for various sports, including cricket, football, basketball, and badminton. There are also regular yoga sessions and fitness programs to keep students physically active. Clubs and Student Life DGI has several student-run clubs and social groups, such as the Cultural Club, Technical Club, Robotics Club, and Entrepreneurship Cell. These clubs play an essential role in organizing events, workshops, and initiatives that encourage leadership, creativity, and teamwork. Additionally, the student portal keeps students informed about upcoming events and opportunities, fostering a connected and engaged campus community.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in Annapurna Boys Hostel, D-Block, near Dronacharya Group of Institutions (DGI), Greater Noida. The hostel is a convenient option for students looking for affordable and decent accommodation close to campus. Room Facilities: The rooms are basic but functional, typically shared by two or three students. Each room is equipped with: Bunk beds or single beds A study table, chair, and a small wardrobe. Fan and lights. Windows for ventilation. Wi-Fi access, though it can be inconsistent at times. Rooms are cleaned regularly, and bathrooms are shared between two rooms. While the rooms are not luxurious, they offer enough comfort for students to focus on studies and daily activities. Meal Quality & Menu: The food at the hostel is simple but adequate. Meals generally consist of: Breakfast: Paratha, poha, or sandwiches Lunch and Dinner: Chapati, rice, dal, vegetable curries, and sometimes non-veg options The food is homely but can become monotonous. The taste varies, and while it’s not gourmet, it’s filling and nutritious. Students often prefer to order from outside occasionally or go to nearby eateries for a change. Hostel Registration Process & Affordability: The registration process for the hostel is straightforward. Students need to submit a form, provide necessary documents, and make the required fee payment. The process is managed by the hostel administration, and rooms are allocated based on availability. The monthly rent is affordable, around ?4,000-?5,000 (without AC), which is quite reasonable considering the proximity to the college. The hostel is located in a safe and student-friendly area of Greater Noida, near DGI. It's well-connected to public transport and within walking distance of the college. The locality has several shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it convenient for students to buy essentials or relax during their free time.

Admission

Before choosing DGI, I applied to a variety of institutions across Delhi-NCR and beyond. Some of the colleges I applied to include: 1.DTU 2.NSIT 3.JIIT 4.AMITY 5.GALGOTIAS 6.NIET I get admission form from Amity, galgotias and Niet . The reason I didn't choose them because - 1.Amity---Offers a well-rounded curriculum, especially in management and interdisciplinary subjects, but the technical courses are not as focused as those in top-tier institutions. 2. Galgotias --- It has a good curriculum but lacks strong industry collaboration compared to more established colleges. 3.NIET --- The number of opportunities is less if compared . DTU and NSIT had extremely high cutoffs, and even though I had a good score in JEE Main, it was below the cutoff for my preferred branch. Consequently, I didn’t make it to these institutions. JIIT had a more flexible admission process, but the fees were on the higher side compared to DGI, which made me reconsider. Admission Process at DGI: The admission process for DGI is straightforward and based primarily on the JEE Main score, although UPSEE (Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination) is also accepted. The candidate must have passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for general category students; 40% for reserved categories). The cutoffs for JEE Main and UPSEE vary each year based on the number of applicants and the difficulty of the exam. Generally, a JEE Main score around 50-60 percentile is sufficient for admission into most branches of engineering at DGI. Overall Admission Experience: The admission process at DGI is fairly simple and transparent. The documentation and counseling process is efficient, though it can be crowded during peak admission times.

Faculty

4

KoThe faculty-to-student ratio at DGI is relatively favorable, especially in comparison to larger institutions. The average ratio is around 1:15 to 1:20 in most departments. This ensures that faculty members can give adequate attention to individual students. The faculty-student relationship is generally professional but also approachable. Most professors maintain an open-door policy during office hours and are willing to help students with doubts or clarifications. Outside of class, students can interact with faculties through email, dedicated WhatsApp groups, or during extracurricular activities. Some professors also encourage discussions on industry trends or recent technological advancements. Faculty Members I Liked Dr. S.K. Singh (Computer Science Department): He is a well-respected professor known for his deep understanding of algorithms and data structures. His teaching method is clear and structured, and he often provides real-world examples to make concepts easier to grasp. Prof. Ranjan (Mechanical Department): He has a way of explaining complex concepts in thermodynamics and mechanics with simple analogies. His practical approach, incorporating lab sessions and industry case studies, makes the learning experience engaging. Dr. Anjali Sharma (Electronics and Communication): Dr. Sharma is known for her ability to make even the most difficult subjects like communication systems or microprocessors easy to understand. She also encourages students to ask questions and fosters a stimulating learning environment. Best Faculties In my opinion, the best faculties at DGI are: Dr. S.K. Singh (Computer Science) Prof. Ranjan (Mechanical) Dr. Anjali Sharma (Electronics) These professors are not only knowledgeable but also approachable and truly invested in students' success. They are involved in research, and many have industry experience, which helps them bring practical knowledge into their lecture.

Night Life

3

Though there isn't a dedicated gym or hostel on campus, there are still a few places nearby that students frequent to relax after a long day of classes. On-Campus Spaces: Cafeteria: The campus cafeteria is a central hangout spot, where students gather for snacks, meals, and informal hangouts Library: The library, which is well-stocked with academic resources, generally closes by 6 PM. It's not a spot for late-night studying unless there's an ongoing event or extended session. Public Areas: The open spaces around the campus, including the central lawns and benches, are popular in the evenings for casual gatherings or group study sessions Late-Night Activities: Since DGI doesn’t have a gym or hostel, students often head out to nearby places for fitness or entertainment: Late-Night Cafes/Restaurants: Many students visit nearby cafes like Café Coffee Day or Bikanervala for a relaxed evening. These spots offer a peaceful environment to chat with friends, play board games, or just hangout
