What Students Say
Likes
- I am pursuing B.Sc. chemistry and the lab facilities are good. Other departments are very well organised too.
- Considering my social life in college. It's really good. The people are ready to talk and help anytime. The faculty is not too good though and needs improvement.
- The syllabus is formulated by kashmir university and has a good scope but the teaching here is not upto the mark. The teachers waste student's time more often.
Dislikes
- The teaching, the teachers, the discipline and washroom facilites. Disorder and inadequate organisation.
- No gym, not a good canteen and playground needs work too.
- The college gate keepers are extremely rude.
Course Curriculum Overview
Umm the syllabus is good not too comprehensive which is good too. We don't want to suffer during our exams due to lack of adequate knowledge. The teachers don't complete the syllabus more often and we have to face the consequences. The frequency of exams is twice a year, actually thrice considering the internals as well. The difficulty level is average. The teachers could spend more time on studying and help the students that's how improvement can be achieved.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid almost 8200 in my first year and in my second year I paid 8500 almost as university fees and college fees separately. College fees is comparatively higher. I am in the general category and I didn't apply for tuitions. There aren't any other charges. For my batchmates of different categories, the fees structure was same I don't know about scholarships because I have never availed any. I have a cousin who's is currently benefitting from the scholarships provided by my college.
Campus Life
Festivals? They don't care about that too much. The parades occur during independence and republic days. No other festivals or events are done. Yes the provision of smart boards in classes is a +1 point. However not all classes have smart boards. Infact most of the classrooms don't have them. The sports and extracurricular activities are really good +1 for that. You join clubs and there are trials for those. Great stuff. No student run groups, clubs or portals. -1 point to the college.
Admission
I wanted to go to the DU but due to a large distance and political issues I couldn't. I chose this college because it's nearer to me and quite popular in my area. No I was not rejected I just didn't apply. Oh man the admission process is really tidious and they need to work on it to make it easier. I would rate the admission process 1/10 in ease and 10/10 in difficulty. It's so stupid really.
Faculty
The faculty is not good as I mentioned. They cut corners and don't teach well. They make the students wait and waste their time. They don't teach too good as well like it's none of their concern to be brutally honest. I liked some faculty members but due to transfers frequently, they're not there anymore. Mr Mudasir Sir, I don't like him too much because of his rude behaviour. The exams are internal and external for which university allots us marks. Each Academic Year is divided into two semester exams.
Night Life
Gym is obsolete, cafeteria is shady, library is okayish. I never visited the hostel I have heard its horrible lol. Hangout places are just the fountain park and library parks. Nothing special. Outside the college there are small dhabas and malls again nothing special. Night life is actually fun when around friends.
