What Students Say
Likes
- The faculties especially for 1st year students are very friendly and approachable. They have very good expertise on the subject they are teaching.
- The campus in overall is good. Though its not very big like the main campus DSCE, its has various sitting places with tree shade. The seminar halls and classrooms are nice especially the auditorium.
- There are quite some fests held with garba night, food fest, antaragni, Esperanza and DJ night on every event and students are involved in the organization of the events. Hackathons are held on a regular basis and there are a lot of clubs.
Dislikes
- The overall organization of the campus is not quite good. Syllabus isn't really completed on time and exam timetables are given just 1-2 days before exams. We have had clash of exam dates and feat dates due to which they had to postpone the exams
- Classes aren't cancelled during fests which brings a lot of inconvenience because attendance is something which cant lose and fests are something we can't miss.
- If we have missed classes due to participation in any fest or hackathons attendance arent given easily even when we have letters stating why we have missed classes. Plus the 85% mandatory attendance criteria is hard to manage
Course Curriculum Overview
Computer science is a vast field with many sub branches and applications. Thats was one reason why i had chosen it. The teachers here are equally interested in teaching us about the various technologies and applications of subjects like maths and physics in real world. If the exam schedule could be changed back to 3 internals, it would release of some pressure for students. The difficulty level of exams are moderate and if given enough tike to prepare for exams we can easily score good marks.
Internships Opportunities
I dont have much detail about internships as they start from 5th or 6th semester but i have heard seniors saying that the internships are quite good with good stipends. One senior of ours secured a 8LPA internship!
Placement Experience
From 7th semester the students are eligible for campus placements. Various good tech companies visit the campus and the college is working its way towards foreign collaborations as well to increase the job opportunities for students. Theres 100% placement and average package is around 5,00,000.
Fees and Financial Aid
•Comedk fees: 2,81,000 Skill lab fees for comedk students is: 25,000 [ skill lab fees for kcet students is: 15,000 And for students coming from outside karnaraka is: 27,000] •Skill lab fees is including registration fees •examination fees for one year (2 semesters) is: 6,000 •scholarship is available for SC, ST and OBC categories.
Campus Life
Esperanza is the biggest fest held here in DSATM. Usually its held in the beginning of the year. Antaragni is an inter department competition-fest held during October-November with both students and faculties from each department participating. Technical fests are held with various colleges like BNMIT, RNSIT, DSCE, BMSCE etc participating as well. Library is huge with a lot of hard and soft copy of books. There are private study zones whete you can go and stidy without much disturbances. Ecah Classroom has projectors and podiums and proper fans. Though some may not work usually. Sports is encouraged a lot with a lot of inter department and inter college sports competitions. NCC is held in campus and We have an empowerU club which encourages students to participate in organization of events.
Admission
My other options were SJBIT, JSSATE, CMRIT. my admission based on my comedk rank was confirmed in these places, but why i chose DSATM over these college would be due to its tag of DSI and mainly due to centralised placements with the main campus DSCE which is among the top colleges in bangalore. U can get into DSATM by writing either COMEDK or KCET or through management. Students usually prefer KCET since the college fees is way less compared to comedk which is double of kcet or management quota. Cutoffs for comedk for DSATM this year were quite huge ranging upto 46,000 for CSE core itself.
Faculty
The number of faculties especially for 1st year students is quite less. For example during my first year we had 6 cse classes with each class having a strength of 50-55. We had only 2 teachers for physics dealing all 6 classes which was quite and headache for them. I would not like to name any teachers here, but i assure you teachers are well experienced and have written and published their own patents, research papers, text books etc. There were some teachers who werent fit for teaching but after complaining to the HOD, the teacher had changed. There are currently 2 Internal exams and 1 semester end exams. Appart from that we have CCA's and certification courses which are graded. The curriculum is good with respect to real world application. Students are taught application of topics they are taught in various fields. The exam correction is quite lenient amd leaving 1-2 students everyone passes with good marks.
Night Life
After college life in college campus is amazing! We can go sit in canteen or anywhere in the campus because there is a lot of sitting area in the campus. According to my friend who lives in hostel, hostel mess is ok-ish not very good but the food court and food truck food is amazing. A lotnof food stalls are arranged during fests as well. Gym is available for hostellites and a badminton court is also there. We have a basketball court too which is used more for football and cricket than basketball lol. We have polar bear, cafe coffee day, third wave coffee, udupi withing walking distance from our college. The college is right on a highway so tye pgs are about 10-15 mins walking distance from there. At night usually its safe enough to go out with friends but not alone i guess.
