- I liked the campus location unlike other institutes it is in the center of Surat city.
- Webinars and Seminars are conducted and they are free of cost, which provide us additional knowledge.
- Faculties and staff members are very helpful in academics.
Dislikes
- During heavy rainfalls, few parts of campus area are filled with water. Which makes it uneasy for hostel students to make to classes.
- NA, there is nothing, that I do not like about my college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I tried for MSU but due to lack of merit and location of MSU I could not get a seat in MSU and as I completed my 12th boards from Madhya Pradesh board, my home state was selected as Madhya Pradesh. So, I got Dr S&SS Ghandhy GEC through JEE mains score.
Internships Opportunities
Our college is very responsible in terms of internship opportunities which help students to develop their critical thinking and practical knowledge. Companies such as DGVCL and Goldi solar visit our campus for selection of students for internship. In internships in this companies students learn about market required skills and indutries work culture.
Placement Experience
Their are descent number of placements every year. As principal of GEC Surat is also an alumini of IIT-Bombay in Electrical branch, he has got some high profile contacts in industry to hire freshers from our institute. The highest package from my branch was 8 LPA and the average package was 6 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
As Dr S and SS Ghandhy GEC is a government educational institute it has minimum fees as compared to other private institutes and the fees structure is according to government laws only which fluctuates from 2000 to 3000 Rs for male students except for reserved categories and female students it's completely free. Other scholarships which are available for students is MYSY scholarship and for the students who selected TFWS and scored good aggregates.
Campus Life
My overall experience in campues life is very good as I enjoyes many festivals and made many memories with my friends and classmates. Some highlighted festivals of GEC Surat are Tech-fest and Cultural-Fest. Also the sports week in GEC Surat is awesome in which many sport games are held and participation is free of cost, by participating in sports or in any festivals we get a participation certificate.
Hostel Facilities
The GEC Surat hostel is a government hostel therefore it has very minimus fees of 2000 to 3000 Rs per year. Therefore there is no financial burden on students or their parents for accomodation. Lunch and food is provided in college canteen at very minimal costs.
Admission
I also applied for VIT but due to my low merit score I could not get admission there and it was also too expensive for me. The admission proccess was easy as I had to carry only specific documents and their xerox copies and had to fill a form to confirm my admission in GEC Surat.
Faculty
The ratio of faculty to student ratio in my college is 65% of students per professor which is quite good for me to understand what they are teaching in lectures. For the labs all classes are divided into 4 batches, each batch consisting of 20-25 students and they are coordinated by a single professor. Faculties are approachable due to their friendly nature. But also some faculties are very strict about attendance and other academic activities compared to other departments in my college. We are having two exams per semester that is a mid-semester exam of 30 marks and end-semester exam of 70 marks or depending on the subject credits.
Night Life
Nightlife in GEC Surat is safe and good. As it is in middle of the Surat city it unlocks many entertaining places in nearby area for students. There are many gardens, malls and theaters. A famous beach named Dumas is nearby to GEC Surat.
