Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is versatile, it gives student enough time to decide which field they want to go into. in first year all the students have common courses, in second year we can choose pre majors as per out wish, further in third year we have to choose Majors, this way students can slowly shortlist areas of their interest. Although i feel there should be more engineering related courses in the engineering department, which the curriculum lacks, also each sem is of just 3 months which leads to tests after a very short period of time, semesters should be longer.

Internships Opportunities

3

Students get internships at various fields, including colleges like IIT Bombay, IIT kgp, IIT Delhi, IISc bangalore, many student also get interntional internships in institutions like Caltech etc. Mostly people go for reseach internship, cooperate internships are very low

Placement Experience

2

IISER does not release offical placement data, but placements are low as most of the students go for higher education. Avg package for BS students being around 7lpa, and for BSMS students it is around 19lpa as per 2023

Fees and Financial Aid

Semester fee is Rs 36700, Hostel fee is Rs 6700 per sem, and User charges/other fee is 9700 per sem, mess charges are around Rs 3500 per month. For first semester extra charges of rs 15000 are taken as caution money. So total yearly fee is 1,06,200 + mess charges. There are no fee waivers for SC/ST/OBC candidates, although scholarships are given on various criterias. All the Bachlors courses have similar fee structure. Inspire scholarship is provided to non droppers, on the basis of merit Realiance scholarship is also provided to candidates on the basis of merit and income.

Campus Life

5

We have an annual tech event called Armageddon held in february. We have another annual event called Singularity. There are many small scale events which keep going on thorught the year. The central library has a wide variety of books. IIISER Bhopal has the best sports facilities among all IISERs. we have multiple badminton cours, tennis cours, basketball court, both indoor and outdoor, football grounds, cricket grounds and many more sports facilites. There are many student run clubs, suiting to interests of all the individuals, ranging from EECS(Electronics and computer sci) club, Physics club, Chemistry club to Arts and litereature club, book club, photography club and so on

Hostel Facilities

3

We have double occupancy rooms, we are given a bed, a cupboard, a lamp and a table for each person. Mess food is decent, not great, with charges being Rs 3500 per month. Registration is done at the time of admission in the college There is no PG facility in the locality

Admission

I gave JEE mains, and advance and IAT, i qualified all three of them, although i was not getting an IIT, and i was getting so called lower NITs with non circuital branches. IISER being a well knows institute for research, with iiser bhopal having engineering course as well, i decided to go for iiser as I believed i will get a better enviroment and peer group here. IISERs take admission through IISER Aptitute Test (IAT)

Faculty

3

Faculty to student ratio is around 1:40 in first year, although in further years it gets better. I personally like Adarsh Vasista sir as he is easily approachable and he seems really interest in Physics. We have a total of 4 quizes, one midsem and end sem. two of the 4 quizes are conducted before midsem and others are conducted after midems. Difficulty levels vary from professor to professor, overall quizes are easier to score on. There is relative grading, and 75% attendance is compulsory.

Night Life

2

There is gym within the campus, we also have CCD (Cafe coffee day) and several other resutaunts withing the campus. There are no hostel timings, but for first year students there is a 1am curfew for hostels There is a 2am curfew for entering the campus. Famous places near the campus include Upper lake in bhopal city, bibedka caves, Van vihar national park

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is very research driven, and it is very flexible too. Course is as per the New Education Policy and is relevant to modern industrial needs. However the Curriculum is all around Pure Sciences, like the B.Sc but just the college is much better than a normal BSc college. First two year is given to students to get along with subjects that they want to study in future, in the third year they choose their Majors. Quizzes are frequent and occurs biweekly, while Exams occurs every month and so.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum trains students in various research fields, including lab and theory. The course prepares a student to get either a industry position, or PhD position. The course curriculum can be improved by porividing more exposure to students who havent experienced, these fields. Exams are good, easy if youve understood the course content. These exams are based on a wide information of the topic, and are not limited to just one textbook.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since I am just in my first year right now, the courses I have are fairly introductory. But since we have to study PCMB, Earth Science, Programming and a Humanities course just in the first year, it's fairly hard to manage. we have 2 quizzes, a mid sem exam and an end sem exam in each semester typically at the end of each consecutive month (4 month semester). The marking scheme, syllabus, paper pattern, time, difficulty etc are all subject to change according to the professor.

Placement Experience:

As it's a research institution, more emphasis is given to academia and research instead of placements. We have an active placement cell, but still, it's lackluster compared to engineering colleges. The average package hovers around 10 lpa, and only a handful of people get placements. Most opt for Phd or an MBA.

We have a relatively better course structure, but what i think is IISER Pune has the most advanced sort of curriculum which gives them a better advantages and helps in their NIRF Ranking also. All the courses should be type of open elective.

Mostly from 8th semester onwards students become eligible for sitting in placements and getting preplacement offers in their applied companies. Companies like nomura Bank ,Barclays and Dr Reddy's lab have visited the campus in the past. Mostly all the students get placed because less number of student sitting for the placements. According to last year data around 31 lakhs per annum was the highest package and the average was around 10 lakhs per annum. My plan is to get into a foreign university for my higher studies.

Since IISER Bhopal is a research based institute, the placements here are not judged as in aspect of job placements after bachelor's degree, rather people here generally go for higher studies. But regardless the knowledge and experience gained here by people help them apply for any organisation off campus
