Course Curriculum Overview

4

The cirriculum is very much practical and requires much of practical knowledge apart from theoretical knowledge which is different from many other courses. The course prepares us for many many many difficult situations as cam be seen from vastness and length of the course . Also medicine is very vast and requires a lot of patience . Also , it must be clear to most of you , how difficult and lengthy it is to acquire a personality of a doctor.

Internships Opportunities

5

Incampus Internship of 1 year in mbbs is a part of 5.5 year of graduation and is compulsory for every student. You are paid off about Rs 30k per month during your internship which is quite greater than many of state colleges .though you work like a clerk during your internship, the work here is very very hectic , including night duties but as you are paid well off it doesnt seem to create much problem . Also its necessary for us to learn as a doctor and provides a great opportunity to learn skills and on field jobs as a doctor

Fees and Financial Aid

The total college fees i paid during admission for whole 5.5 year course was 11500/- which included tuition fees , hostel fees and basic registration fees. Apart from that i paid 2500/- of security amount for admission. Also Rs. 500 /- were paid by me for full body medical tests and vaccination done during admission. Few years back this all were included in a minimal fees of 7000/- for 5.5 yrs. Also a security amount of 7200/- was paid to student mess and there is a concept of monthly bills which depends on amount of food you eat. (Security amount will be returned to us post graduation) . This all was for general category. It is same for every category. There are no direct scholarships provided on the tuition fees or any other fees.

Campus Life

5

The Campus Life here is great as it is very close to nature and the city is in .The fest organised in our college is one of the greatest in North India. The fest called as PYREXIA spans for 5 days and is very interesting including concerts of big Bollywood stars and musical nights. It is celebrated on a very huge scale. The Central library here is also very huge with every book available .The library and classrooms are equipped with latest technologies. The sports played in our college are very good and are played in really professional manner with almost every basic facilities. Also many many extra curricular activities are performed in the campus which includes literary, fine arts , sports. Also there are many clubs which provide mental sanity and maintains mental health of students along with the studies.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel facilities are not as good as they are shown by many of the YouTubers . In fact it is worse than that. Hostels are too old and not renovated since long. It depends on you how you can clean and renovate your room .There is no extra charges for hostels for mbbs students . The mess here is very average and sometimes you feel why are you eating this food . The menu is also quite mediocre.

Admission

I chose this college , for obviously, it was a central institute , has a very huge importance in medical field and a huge respect amongst the medical fraternity. Also this institute provides a very good experience and exposure in field of academics and research as compared to other colleges. Also there is no bond in this college and provides you with internal quotas.

Faculty

5

The faculty to student ratio is quite adequate but also depends upon the department . For example , in cardiology there are only 2 faculties. Whereas in pathology ghere are almost 7 - 8 ( quite sufficient). The faculties are very kind and approachable and sometimes you forget that they are college professors and senior doctors. There are generally 4 main terminal exams, - mid terms , end terms , pre proff and proffs , apart from which there are monthly assessments tests (MAT) which are mostly taken in first 2 years only . In last 3 years there are no such MATs but end posting exams , taken as a ward leaving exam. MATs are not regular i.e. many a times they are postponed, many a times cancelled, sometimes even 2-3 MATs per subject is taken in single month.

Night Life

3

The night life is not very good considering the city it is in . Only the mess remains open till 2 o'clock otherwise the city shuts down at 9 PM only. But there is a very popular hanging out place near the banks of river Ganga. There is no night city life as such but the nature in the night is really calm and soothing. In winters and rains it is very beautiful to go out near the river. There is no campus in timings or hostel in timings for boys but it is 12 o'clock for girls .The campus is very safe to roam at night but the city is not.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate

Our college curriculum is relevant to our course in this field we save lives of many patients which influenced me the most that's why I always wanted to become a doctor. After the inter introduction of clinical posting we get early exposure to the patients which prepare us for real word application of our knowledge. Time to time exams are conducted here to test are abilities and areas and subjects so that we can improve in that particular field.
