Remarks

I applied for two more colleges. GDMC Dehradun and VCSG Srinagar. But according to me, Government Medical College Haldwani was a better choice. I haven't availed of any quota for admission. The minimum age for admission is 17 years. Minimum marks for the general category should be at least 600. For admission to GMC Haldwani, you need to qualify NEET exam with good marks. Now you have to attend the counseling online and upload all the required documents online platform. If you got selected you get an admission letter. Then you have to go to college to get admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose this course because I wanted to become a doctor since I was a kid. It is a good and respectful profession. The faculty is very nice without any doubt. Professors are really helpful to their students and are very down to earth. All faculty members are well qualified and have good knowledge about their subject. All the faculty is well qualified. The teaching method of every teacher is unique. Even in the pandemic time, they didn't give up and performed their job honestly. Terminal exams are held every 3 months. Class tests are held regularly almost every month. And you have to pass all the internal exams to appear in the University exam. At the end of the session, there are held 2 exams. Pre University and University exam. Only those students who have passed the Pre University exams are allowed to sit in University exams. It is quite difficult to pass exams but not impossible.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

All the students have to work as an intern under different departments of the college during the internship. They have to perform only one role that is of a doctor. No projects are provided to the students. Only the student has to work under a senior doctor in a department that he/she is posted in.

Placement Experience

3.5

After passing the MBBS every student is eligible for the campus placement. There are no companies that visit the college for placement because the students are placed under the government. All students are provided the pay decided by the government. 100% of students qualifying MBBS are getting placements. After getting the degree I have a plan on appearing in the NEET PG exam and after qualification, I will be doing features in any of the qualified branches.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees of the college are Rs.50000 per annum. Besides this, there are hostel fees that are Rs.6000 per annum and Rs.50000 mess fees. The scholarship program is specific for only SC ST and army background students. There is no financial assistance provided by the college. Students can take Education Loan at their own risk. After completion of MBBS students have to work for a year as an intern in the College Hospital. The stipend provided by the college is rupees 7500 per month.

Campus Life

4

The annual fest of the college is named crescendo. It is generally conducted in the month of October or November. There is a huge library on the college campus and all the books related to the MBBS are available here. Classrooms are well furnished and there are projectors and other facilities in the classroom. There is no air conditioner in the lecture theatres. It becomes unbearable during summer. During the first, there are many sports cultural, and other extracurricular activities conducted in the college. The campus is quite huge and many sports facilities are available within the college campus like badminton cricket football tennis swimming etc. There is no social group or club or website run by students.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostels are well furnished and hygiene is well maintained in hostels. Hostels are cleaned regularly. For first and second-year students there is a room with an Occupancy of two students. But from the third year and above each and every student gets a separate room. The meal quality is fine. The menu is decided by the people who work in mess. The menu is quite good and the quantity is also fine. After getting admission into the college you have to go to the hostels and you are allotted rooms thereby hostel warden. Hostels are affordable to everyone and the fees of the hostel are only 6000 rupees per year. The Bareilly road is safe. It is located near the college and the hospital. It has all the basic facilities nearby. So the locality for PG is quite safe.

Other Applied Colleges

GDMC Dehradun | MBBS

GMC Haldwani was better choice according to me.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course from this college due to its hospital. It is one of the best hospitals in uttrakhand. MBBS itself carry an important meaning in once life if they have decided to be a doctor. MBBS teachings here is only done to keep you ready for the real worlds. Case discussions are a regular thing here. Total there are 19 subjects that need to be studied within 4.5 years. Few subjects like PSM, AETCOM module should be scrapped completely. They only waste your time as maximum contents they cover are covered in other subjects and few left could be covered separately. It goes on for 3 years with unnecessary postings and practical where you discuss house dimensions, nutrition, etc.

-Specific aspects is the pattern of exams, that was MCQs pattern and now it has been changed to 50% MCQs and 50% theory. -Curriculum is prepared in the view of clinical knowledge, there are seminars and other group discussion is also added in curriculum apart from classes - The teaching methods should be changed from PPT to ppt + black board, because it's very boring to stare on ppt for an hour - we have to pass 4 exams in one year Mid terminal exam in the end of 3rd month of academic year End terminal exam in the end of 6th month of academic year And two professional exams at the end of the academic year Exams are not difficult, the difficulty level is moderate
