Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Civil Engineering has always fascinated me and doing this Course at IIT Bhubaneswar was a very good decision because of the facilities and experiments they provide. The studies in the course are real-life applications and the difficulty level is moderate to high

Internships Opportunities

4

IIT Bhubaneswar provides a range of internship opportunities through its strong industry connections and faculty-led projects with companies like Microsoft Amazon Qualcomm ISRO. Tcs and RBL Bank offer internships in roles such as software development data science research and mechanical engineering Interns typically receive stipends ranging from rs10,000 to 50,000 rupees per month internship projects include tasks like software development at Microsoft data analysis at Amazon and satellite data analysis at Israel these internships allow students to gain hands-on experience developing technical skills and work on real-world applications Successful completion can lead to full-time job offers of further research collaborations.

Placement Experience

4

At IIT Bhubaneswar students become eligible for placement from their 7th semester. The placement percentage is high with many students securing offers from Amazon Google and Goldman Sachs. highest package exceeds 50 lacks and the average package is around 14 lacks. if no campus placements are offered, students can opt for higher studies or entrepreneurship, they can also opt for off-campus placements

Fees and Financial Aid

The B.tech fee structure at iit Bhubaneswar includes tuition fees registration, caution deposit, development, lab, hostel, and other charges. For general category students the first year fee totals 1,65,000 including 1,00,000 tuition 10,000 caution deposit 15,000 development 10,000 lab 20,000 hostel and 5000 miscellaneous charges subsequent years cost 1,55,000 annually with the total course fee amounting to 6,30,000.SC/ST students receive tuition fee waivers paying only other charges. EWS and OBC students pay the same fees as general students, scholarships like the merit-cum-mean scheme cover up to 50% tuition for students with family incomes below 4.5 lakh And government scholarships are available for reserve categories. Top-performing students can earn institute merit awards with stipends of 2000 to 5000 monthly. fees have remained stable recently with minor adjustments for inflation.

Campus Life

5

campus life at iit Bhubaneswar is vibrant with Cultural Fest ALMA FIESTA in January and Technical Fest WISSENAIRE in February being major highlights. The library offers extensive resources including books journals and E-resources while classrooms are equipped with modern techs like projectors and audio-visual aids. The campus boasts excellent sports facilities including grounds for cricket and football. Courts for basketball and tennis and a gym. Student-run clubs such as a robotics club, coding club, and music club foster skills and camaraderie with a STUDENT GYMKHANA coordinating activities. Overall the infrastructure and active student groups create a well-rounded and engaging campus experience.

Hostel Facilities

4

The Hostel facilities at iit Bhubaneswar are comfortable with rooms equipped with a bed study table chair fan and cupboard some hostels have ac rooms while others are non ac the rooms are spacious though maintenance can vary Perman areas like lounges are available for socializing and relaxation The meal quality in the hostel mess is decent with a varied menu offering Indian Chinese and continental options while the food can be inconsistent efforts are made to provide balanced meals vegetarians

Admission

I chose iit Bhubaneshwar for its growing reputation modern infrastructure and strong focus on research and career development Compared to NIT Trichy and IIIT Hyderabad , it offered a better balance of academics and interdisciplinary opportunities along with the global recognition of the IIT tag. IIT Guwahati was a close contender but I prefer Bhubaneshwar for its proximity to home and smaller batch size which fosters better interactions. I faced rejections from IIT Bombay and IIT Madras due to my JEE advanced rank, reflecting on this I realize the need for more consistent preparation during my early JEE journey. The admission process is based on JEE advanced with eligibility requiring a good JEE main score and 75% in board exams. Admission happens through JoSAA counseling with document verification and fee submission. For my branch, the cut-off rank was around air 14000. IIT Bhubaneshwar has proven to be a great choice offering the support of an academic environment and excellent growth opportunities

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio is quite good, faculty members are easily available through their e-mails and one-to-one in their respective offices, Prof NASA Reddy who teaches us Electrical Technology is my favorite professor Per semester there are 2 exams, Mid Sem and End Sem including Theory exams and Lab exams, theory exams are moderate to tough but Practical's could be hectic and upto 6 hours long The students can extend there 4-year courses to 5 or 6 years as per their need to complete them easily Students who fail the exam can repeat the semester and get higher cgpa

Night Life

5

the nightlife at iit Bhubaneswar is relatively low key with most students focusing on academics the GYM is open until 10:00 PM and CAFETERIA close by 10:30 PM Offering a place to relax with snacks or dinner the LIBRARY closes around 11:00 PM for late night study hostels have flexible timings allowing students to stay in after curfew While public areas like lawns are perfect for late-night hangouts on campus the student activity center is a popular spot for events And cafe coffee day nearby is great for coffee breaks.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
