Course Curriculum Overview
As I said before, the curriculum is designed by MIT and hence it's comprehensive and subjected to change as per industry standards. For hands on experience on the subject, we have interships and other opportunities provided by Bits management.
Internships Opportunities
There are two internship opportunities provided by the college management. These are part of your curriculum and decided by your grades and company expectations. First one is called PS1 done after your second year for two months during your summer break. PS1 is unpaid (ie you have to pay for that) and compulsory. Second is PS2 which is in your fourth year for 6 months. This is paid (you get paid for that) and if you perform well you may also get permanent placement offer from that company.
Fees and Financial Aid
The yearly fees is around 2 lakhs and it's increasing due to the popularity increase. Hostel fees is 10k per month. There is no reservation in Bits Goa. There are three types of scholarships. Merit, need and merit-cum-need. Along with that there are other scholarships for economically backward class.
Campus Life
My overall experience on campus has been amazing. Located in South Goa , there are beautiful beaches and scenery to go to during vacations. There are more than 20 clubs and departments to develop your skills and learn more. These are great opportunity to connect with seniors and learn from them as well as your peers. There are sports teams and other amenities for sports. In Bits Goa there are three main fests called Waves(cultural) , Quark(technical) and Spree(sports). Students from all over the country come to these fests to attend.
Hostel Facilities
The room has one study table, one closet , one tube light and one fan per side. Though it may seem as room is small for two people but it's ample of space for you to stay along with your roommate. In first year the rooms are shared by two people and from second year you shift in other hostel having a single room to yourself which have more or less the similar amenities. Clean drinking water and washrooms are provided and cleaned every day.
Admission
I got confirmed admission in some of the top NITs but I chose Bits over NIT due to no reservation policy and zero attendance policy. To get admission in Bits you need to give an entrance test called BITSAT. The cutoffs are changing so it's better you see the previous year cutoffs before the exam. I also qualified JEE Advanced but the rank was not good to get admission into any of the top IITs.
Faculty
There are many faculties in Bits but exact number is unsure. One can check the official website of Bits Goa to check. I would not like to name any teacher but yes there are some teachers who teach amazingly well and there are some who don't know how to teach. All teachers have a PhD or ongoing studies for PhD. The teacher student relationship is good and teachers also provide academic as well as non academic counselling. As far as exams are concerned, the difficulty does not matter because of relative grading system and the curriculum is designed by MIT USA so it's well as per the recent trends.
Night Life
Most people go to library to study after the classes which is open till 12 and till 2 during exams. During exams there are special reading rooms which are open from 6PM to 6AM. There are a few food outlets in campus along with night canteens which are open till 3 AM . There are no hostel timings, you can go in and out anytime as you wish. Night life of Bits Goa is very vibrant as you see many groups sitting in circle and having fun. Those are some of the best memories I made.
