A student's perspective on Darrang College

I really liked our course structure, its very interesting and full of knowledge and the history of our course is systematic starting with ancient humans in 1st sem to Assam History in 6th sem. The teachers are also well qualified and learning is quite easy with their methods. The frequency of exams as already mentioned..two sessionals and one end semester exam with sessionals being quite easy and end semester exam of medium level.

The Commerce Department gives internship with minimum pay. For example one of my friends worked as a pantaloons employee and he was paid Rs 3000 for 60 days.His experience was great and he said college was very supportive with the intership.

I pay Rs.5090 in odd semester for admission and in even semester Rs.400 is charged.So, that's all about the fees. There is examination fee which we have to pay during exams which is around Rs.1890 including practicals and all other charges.So,overall Darrang College is affordable for History Honours.But for some subjects like Psychology, Sociology self finace is required. There are various scholarships available for pwd,ews etc.

The college is a cultural hub and everyone now and then fests are held with biggest being the general freshers which is usually held in September-October. The library has huge number of books and each and every book from the course is available.The library is very big and numerous books are their. Talking about facilities in the classroom every classroom is equipped with projector set up which is used for conducting smart classes. Yes sports is also frequent in college and various games are held like kabbadi,football,cricket etc. There are various student run social groups and some political groups too like AASU,ABVP etc.

I applied for B.Baruah college,Dispur College, Guwahati and got approved but i still chose Darrang College because of - 1.The environment of the college. 2.The infrastructure and openess of the field and buildings of college. 3.The kindness of faculty members of the college. The admissions is based on a merit list and you are selected according to your percentage in class 12 also caste certificate, income certificate etc plays an important role. Overall the admission process is quite simple with little or no stress at all.

There are good number of faculty in the college and they are quite approachable and they are kind and helpful.My experience with faculty has been great... I've studying here for the last 1.5 years and everyone is kind to me and I've never experienced anything bad. I will appreciate the HOD of History department Kangkan Deka Sir as he is very helpful and cool. There are two sessional exams and one end sem exams with numerous tests in between.Exams are quite easy if you study the subject and take notes of teacher's teaching. The students who fail the exams are very low.

Nightlife is more like Eveninglife because Tezpur is not that fond of nightlife...the shops and cafes gets closed at around 10.00 pm so eveyone enjoys the evening time. I have great experience and there are various cafes,food stalls near the college which are great spots to hangout with friends like Cafe Monjai,Thukpa etc. And yes the place is safe with street lights everywhere and the people around are also very respectful and they help students
