A brief description about Tezpur University

As the course that I am pursuing here is "MCA". This course was first introduced in Tezpur university in around 1994 . This was the first university in Assam to introduced this course with respect to that and as well as many people suggested me to get enrolled here if I get a chance...as this university is very well know in our state and I didn't wanted to go outside of state for my masters... Many of the offered courses are related to real-world based scnerios and provides a good knowledge about how things works outside. Nothing much is needed to improve as many highly educated teachers and professors are present here...but the way of teaching of some profs should be changed as no one is able to understand what some professors speaks or tries to make my understand things. The way they teach is not appropriate as we are not able to understand the concept behind... The frequency and timing of the exam is all good as the exams are divided into fours parts so students have to study for the exams as because without studying no one can pass from here...as the exam sitting arrangements are very strict and observes everything...

The fees structure is fine...not so high for 6months they take18-20k including hostel charges....but we have to pay the mess fees every month around 2500-2600 ....As one of my friend is enrolled in MBA..There fee structure is higher then ours...50-70k....As I have applied a scholarship in NSP last year but i didn't received any scholarship...as I am OBC(ncl) category but I didn't received ...rest everything is fine...

There are many festivals which takes place frequently some of the names are "Grand fest" this festival is celebrated by every hostel one by one on the completion of all the annual meet events..When sports and everything is completed then a day is fixed and good food items is served in each hostel in the form of dinner where admin bodies of different hostels are invited and also paid cupon are distributed by which any student can gave a really nice meal with very less amount of money...and many other fest takes place like - Insignis, Tech Xetra,Vanigram, Sampark etc which is celebrated by different departments... The library here is a central library and provides a big range of collections of books and journals. The library remains open to late night 2-3 AM from 5-6 AM morning... There are many sports available here many good sportsman are present as every year AIU Teams of different groups like sports, cultural takes participate in AIU...but the football field is not so well here, it can improved more... Yes there are many clubs available here like dance club, hobby club, astronomy club and many more... When time flies here no one knows!

The hostel where i live is very beautiful and very hygienic then other hostel as the total member in our hostel is about 200 and in other hostel is about 500-600 people's....the floors of ours hostel are of tiles but in other hostel they don't have this facility except the scholars hostel, the bathrooms are well furnished with both type of toilets...in rooms we are allocated in two seater rooms with two beds two tables and two chairs along with one fan and two lights ...the size is the room is sufficient for two people...Two of us can easily exhaust with each other... In first year when we come here we didn't get any room available so we have stay in dormitory for one year after that when we reached second year we have been provided with rooms so to get room here in the very beginning we have to take admission as soon as possible otherwise all the rooms gets booked if we do late in taking admission in result you have to stay in dorm for atleast 1 year... Registration for hostel is not so hard here if there is seat available then you will definitely get room in hostels and the university also wants that every student studing here should stay in hostels. The hostels also have restrictions too much.. There are total of 8 Mens hostels and 9 Women hostels. I haven't rented a room or pg outside as because I stay in hostel but in my knowledge the price of the rent rooms is not so high outside as one can afford it but the pricing will be higher then the hostel and also PG s are specially not available here..

As I had applied in Dibrugarh university also for the same course and I got there but I choosed Tezpur university rather than Dibrugarh university as because the reputation of both the universities are best in there own but TU is a central university and DU is a state university, so there will be much more opportunities and advancement in a central university then a state university and all the family members and others suggested me to take admission here...as Tezpur university is more famous and known by everyone then dibrugarh university. To take admission here and get enrolled in my course (MCA), we have to give an entrance exam which is called "TUEE" by qualifying this exam one can get admission here from any background in bachelor as because there are two MCA courses available here, one is breached and other is non-breached. Breached course is for people with other background in bachelors which is for 3years and Non-breached courses is for people with background in computer science in bachelors which is for 2years. The cutoff changes every year according. One can also get enrolled here in other courses and departments by qualifying exams like CUET, JEE, CAT, MAT etc... Getting a chance to study here is a big opportunity for me.

As to talk about faculty-to-student ratio...Most of the faculties are very good and well understanding and makes us understand everything well... The faculty that I liked the most is Dr Tribikram Pradhan sir and Dr Upatink ma'am as both the teacher are well understanding and makes everything clear about the topic that is discussed I can understand very quickly everything they teaches...both of the teachers clears all the concepts used in the topic. Some faculties are there whom I don't like at all I am not able to mentioned the names...as they keep things that happened in past in mind and gives the grade accordingly as well as some PhD scholars are also very rude as scholars gets to take lab classes and lab final exams they give grade accordingly if some issue has taken place with them with the students . The students that they don't like at all gives the lowest grades and all ...this kind of situation should be resolved as many good students grades can be in problem because of personal issues of some schlors or professors. There are a total of 4 exams per semester, firstly we have 1st sessional exam followed by mid term exam then 2nd sessional exam and lastly end term examination and other things like assignments, practical's etc..and they give us assignments every week for maximum of the subjects assignments are given... It isn't so hard to clear all the exams if every concept is clear then one can easily pass in the exams with a good grade as there is relative grading... All the provided course are good and provide a know about how to deal with real world scenarios...

When I got admitted here, we only had written test examination which was quite difficult...we didn't have any group discussions or interviews questions we only had written test by which we got admitted here in MCA. The written exam consist of knowledge of the field in which you want to enroll(mine was computer), reasoning, quantitative aptitude,grammar and little bit of mathematics. In other departments like MBA , they consist of writing exam + Group discussions and Interview. If the candidates qualifies all the test then he/she gets a chance to enroll in the course. I don't know much about the type of question and topics that are asked in GD and Interview.

The gym is not so well here it is too small but all the charges are free..there are many cafeterias here where one can spend time with their loved ones... The hostel where I live is a very hygienic hostel and all the facilities are pretty good...At first I didn't like this place at all but as time passed, I really liked this place...now I don't like to go home much as this place,specially the hostel members has became as my family members as they treat very well but sometimes I feel like leaving all this and go home because of some certain reasons. Some of the famous hangout places inside the campus are - Niribili which is a park located in front of the VC's residency, Essentials where we get everything that is used in daily life and also many cafes are available to have refreshments..Shopping complex etc... Some hangout places outside are - mainly cafés and restaurants there names are VRL, Chetry catering, juice corner , momo corner etc..
