- The classes are ok, classes could be more interactive. Teachers reading PPTs are a problem everywhere.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is great, it is clinically oriented. In postings, we see many real life cases. And the professors also emphasize on the clinical relevance. Medicine as a field is very huge, so there are many things to memorize which is what I dislike but it is the essential evil. The teaching methods could be improved, make it more interactive. There are formative assessments every month. Internals are held every 3 months. The difficulty of the exam is slightly hard, you can easily pass the exams if you work from early on.
Internships Opportunities
Every medical student has to do internship after their final year. I'm still a 2nd year so I have very little idea about it. I do know that interns rotate in every department and the infrastructure is good enough to practice.
Fees and Financial Aid
For first year you have to pay the college fees of Rs.29,000. There is a college fees of Rs.18,000 First I will elaborate about the college fees 1.Tuition fees- 10,000 2.CDS- 5,000 3. Campus Life
There are no clubs in our college. Our college holds annual festival Freshers day. This year we also celebrated Vinayaka chavithi Anti microbial resistance week and Pharmacovigliance day too are celebrated. There is a sports day too. Our college has a decent library with enough books. The ACs in our classes don't work that well but we are in the midst of shifting to a new college which I heard has good infrastructure.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are good. In Each room about 4 people stay. There are 2 fans and beds are provided. The hostel gets cleaned regularly. Adequate bathrooms. The hostel mess is ok , it's edible ,nothing fancy The message fees is around 3,500. So yeah it's affordable. If you want to stay ina PG, there are many available near college.
Admission
I got this college from round 2 of my state counselling. In round 1, I got allotted GMC WANAPARTHY, I went for round 2 because the gmc WANAPARTHY I felt lacked infrastructure and was far from the city, the city was also not that developed. Nalgonda as a city was the better choice. To get into any medical college you need to crack NEET exam. The cut offs vary from year to year and category to category. The counselling process is complex. Compared to other colleges GMC, Nalgonda has one of the largest patient inflow. The patient care is good.
Faculty
The each class has 150 students. Each department has around 4-5 professors and around 4-5 PGs on average. The professors and PGs are approachable, they encourage us to ask doubts. I like the faculties who take interactive sessions and I dislike professors who just go on reading PPTs. The curriculum followed is as mandated by NMC. In an academic year, there are 3 internals and the student should pass any of the 2 internals among the 3 to get the eligibility to write the final exam. Each subject has 2 papers and the passing marks are 40 in each paper. Each department also holds formative assessments.
Night Life
There is no Gym in the college. I heard the new college has one. The college cafeteria has good food. The timings are similar to that of college. There isn't much night life in the Nalgonda city. We usually hit the movie theatres. The college has a park where we spend our time in between the classes or during the recess. The timings of the college is 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Hostel gate will be closed after 9 pm For girls it's much earlier I think. The locality is safe to roam around night.
