Course Curriculum Overview

5

BTech is the most common course everyone does after completing their Intermediate but i was never intrested in that. I wanted to study something that grabs my intrest and that is why i choose Food Sciences and Technology. I am always intrested in Food and i feel like the future of many people would be as systematic as a robotic lifestyle and they need food to survive. Something nutritious and easy to make which will increase the value of packed and processed food. So i choose to purse this course for my future. This course involves practical as well as theory but i feel like i need some more additions like factory visits and all to prepare for the real world circumstances. The frequency and time of the exams would be 1 mid for each semester. One semester would go around 5 months. The time duration of the exam would be around 2 hours. And the difficulty of the exam for me depends on the subject. If the subject is to hard for me even the exam feels hard to me if i have a good knowledge on the exam it feels easy to me

Internships Opportunities

4

Companies like Galla Foods, Dodla Dairy, CALAVITE, VCR Park are the main companies that have come to provide internship in the university. They provide internships to students who are good in academics and have a well idea about the real world experience.

Placement Experience

5

My course is a 3 years course and the students could try for a placement from the start of 3rd year. They would have enough knowledge about the outside world by that time and they could start to apply for jobs and companies that they desire to work for. In our stream there are many companies that have visited us like gala foods, Nestle, Calavita, National Biodiversity Authority, Dodla Diary etc. I do not have an excat idea about the packages but that would range across 8LPA to 14LPA. Almost every student around 95 % get placed into the companies and few also opt for government sector for Quality Control Management, FSSAI and etc. My plans after completing B.Sc in Food Sciences Technology would be pursuing Masters degree

Fees and Financial Aid

Coming to the fee structure i payed 75k for one year for B.Sc Food Sciences Technology course in GITAM University Hyderabad. I got into the university through scholarship. The actual fee is 1.15 lakhs per annum. Students can avail scholarships through various exams like GITAM entrence test, AP and TS EAMCET, JEE Mains, NEET, etc. The registeation fee, admission fee and other missilinious fee would total around 10k per years. There are many students who avail scholorship. All the liberal art courses would be of same amount around 1.1 lakh to 1.5 lakhs per annum

Campus Life

5

This campus have a lot of fests being conducted through out the year. The main annual fest of the college is known as the PRANAMA, which is celebrated in a huge scale for about 3 days in the month of February. The first day would be an ethnic day, the second day would be a workshop and an concert day and the last day we will have a closing ceremony. People outside the campus are also allowed during these times. We also have several events like hacketon, Cinivaram ( which is a movie weekend) , Masterchef( which is help for students who are intrested in cooking), sport tournaments. Etc. The university has a Knowledge Resource Center. Its has both physical library and Digital library where you could get acess to any study material and research paper for free of cost. The physical library consists a lot of books.

Hostel Facilities

5

I stay in the campus hostel. My fee is 2.3 lakhs per annum i opted for a 2 sharing AC room. The hostel provided 6 sharing, 4 sharing, 3 sharing and 2 sharing in both AC and Non AC. The prices vary for every room. The price range is from 1.5lakhs per annum to 2.3 lakhs per annum. Coming to 6,4,3 sharing rooms they are provided with one bed and one cupboard each. The AC rooms are centralized. Coming to 2 sharing rooms. They are provided with 2 cupboards, 2 singlesize beds for each one. The 2 sharing rooms are more comfortable. The hostel provided breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The menu changes every days and they have a huge buffet spread everyday.

Admission

I have applied to many colleges few of them are Vellore Institution of Technology (VIT), Woxsen University, Manipal University, KL University. I have applied for BTech in All these Universities. But at last moment i decided to flip my course and pursue Food Sciences and Technology so i had to let go all the opportunities in the university. I did apply for Mahindra University for BBA but u got rejected in the Personal Interview round. I got into GITAM througu their Entrance Test. I have got a scholarship of 40% in their entrence test. There are various eligibility criteria for GITAM. The main criteria would be you have to score above 60% in your Intermediate. This Universities accepts students through their own entrence test, AP and TS Eamcet, Intermediate Marks, JEE test series, NEET, etc. The most prefered exam by all the students to get into the university is the Universities Entrence test. The overall admission experience is so smooth and easy. And i realy like the management here cause they are very friendly and they make it easy to survive in this campus

Faculty

4

The faculty student ratio changes according to the subject. I have a major and minor to do. My major is Food Sciences and Technology where as my minor is Bussiness Admissitrator. In Food Sciences the faculty ratio would go around 1:20. Where as in bussiness administration the ratio would go around 1:40. I really like my Principles of Management Faculty. She is Dr.Meera Petambaran she is very well understanding, her teaching is so simple to understand and that has gained my intrest towards the subject. I am good with every faculty but i think i would be a bit partial with Dr.Jaypal cause i don't feel that kind of interested in his class. He is a good teacher by subject but he would not be my go to teacher. We will have 6 semesters throughout the course. And each semester have 1 mid exam. The mid exam would be for 30 marks. Most of the students crack it. This university follow a system of internal evaluation and external evaluation 70 marks for internal and 30 marks for external so its easy for students to pass the test. External is also known as the sem examination. In internal 30 marks are for mid examination and the rest 40 marks are for Continuous Evaluation which includes assignments, class tests, presentation, case studies ect.

Interview Experience

5

During the admission the first stage was a written test. It was a digitalized MCQ test. Once you qualify in the written test you will be called for a personal interview. My personal interview was also confucted in online because i could not come to the campus. My interviewer asked me why i choose to pursue this course, he asked me few simple questions like what are the fat soluble minerals and water soluble minerals. The interview was smooth since the interviewer was calm and patient and did correct me when i went wrong.

Night Life

5

The night life of the campus is personally my favorite time in the campus. Its peaceful you get a good breeze, you will have very less people in the campus after 6 in the evening. Me being a hostler i visit the campus after college hours quite often. We go to the campus to spend some quality time with friends in the nature, to go to the cafeteria. We have few hangout spots like the F block stairs where most of our friends gang meet, we have 2 cafés the Cafe Connection and Talent cafe these are my favorite spots in the campus. I stay in the hostel and the hostel allows us to visit the campus during anytime before 9:00pm. We do have a gym inside the hostel which is well equipped and allows us to acess during anytime of the day. I really recommend everyone to experience the night life of campus atleast once in their university life

Course Curriculum Overview:

I just chose the course for nutrition but really fell in love with biochemistry more. The topics were really interesting and enjoyed the learning phase. In real life applications both of the courses fitted well and further options like msc are avaialble. The improvements aren't there but there could be more interactive learning. The exams and frequency all fits well and like i said they are moderately difficult.
