Course Curriculum Overview
Being a neet aspirant only i decided i want to go for BDS and not MBBS for BDS is a more specialized course focusing only on the oral cavity and care. There are in total 9 branches under BDS and each branch in itself has huge scope in outer world. We start dealing with real patients from third year only so we have real experience of everything and by the time internship completes, we have enough knowledge to open a clinic of our own. And best part, BHU provides 50% internal qouta for its students so we've a better chance of getting a good pg seat from such a prestigious institution.
Internships Opportunities
The dental course mandates internship of 1 year that BHU provides with stipend of approx 26000 per month. The internship involves learning not just dental health care but also basic emergency skills as we get rural posting and postings in emergency and trauma ward also
Fees and Financial Aid
Pursuing BDS from BHU is altogether a great experience. We've huge patient exposure and so much to learn. And the theory part becomes much easier when you yourself start practicing from third year only on patients. The faculty is very supportive in teaching. And there are numerous camps also in neighbouring areas. The campus is breathtakingly beautiful with so more greenery and we have our own replica of kashi vishwanath in campus which is a major tourist spot.
Campus Life
Bhu harbors the north India's one of the largest libraries and IMS itself has its library with every textbook dating even to 1900s is available. There are a lot of open annual events of each faculty that is open to all and meetings and conferences organized. Each faculty have their own well equipped and maintained ground for annual and seasonal sports
Hostel Facilities
The girls get a 2 seater room , well furnished with free wifi and water and electricity. The hostels have ample security and freedom also with mess facilities available... And if u don't want to then u can get tiffin services also. Hostel fees is included in the fees.
Admission
BHU in itself is a prestigious central Institute and any state college with maybe better facilities can not par a central university such as BHU in exposure , reputation and culture. The admission process was simply through NEET UG counseling. And the cutoff fluctuates every year but for bds it is usually around 600/720
Faculty
Each batch initially begins with 63 students and after first year some students drop so around 40 students each year and faculty of around 30 proffessors in 9 departments with senior residents and juniors residents under them. The professors are very helpful and explain very patiently whatever doubt you have. And moreover the need to ask teachers comes very later cause before that we've junior residents and senior residents to clear our doubts in hand. Each year there are 2 sessional exams and one professional exam and passing criteria is 50%. The exams aren't that hard if you're consistent with the core topics of each subject.
Night Life
BHU being a spiritual place doesn't have that many clubs and none are all nighters.. The max they open upto is 1 am. So night lofe isn't much but the serenity and peace that one gets sitting beside river ganga on ghat is a totally different feel. On campus, there is kashi vishwanath replica. Varanasi is the city of temples
