Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is relevant, latest and includes case based teaching and discussions, the cases being generally HBR cases. There are projects given which are having complete real world implications. Sometimes students have to even contact real executives to get data. The exams are unpredictable, and contain both open ended as well as objective questions. But there are only four end semester examinations in 2 years so students get ample time to study.
Internships Opportunities
There are various companies of consulting, finance, marketing, operations, product, and general management domains visiting the campus for summer placements. After the successful conduct of the students during summers, pre placement offers are given.
Placement Experience
My college provides support for SIP, lateral placements and final placements. There is 100 percent placement with average package of ?34.1 lakhs. After the degree, I would like to work in a consulting role with a reputable firm.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees per semester: ?55500, hence yearly ?111000 only; No additional charges whatsoever. Scholarships like OPJEMS available which can be availed on the basis of merit; For students of ST category, National Scholarship for Higher Education for ST students also available; scholarship available under Vidyanjali scheme.
Campus Life
Fiesta is the annual fest that happens in February; the library is air conditioned and contains various physical and online resources like Statista; the classrooms are all air conditioned and contain smart class facilities, allowing teachers to demonstrate using videos and presentations. There are various extracurricular activities occurring throughout the term which include quiz, music, photography, entrepreneurship, sports and case competitions.
Admission
I got calls from almost all the major IIMs except A and B, and converted almost all of them. I chose this college due to proximity from my home and ROI. FMS accepts admission from CAT examination. Then a shortlist for PI is prepared and after PI, admission list and waitlist is declared. After filling all the seats admissions are declared closed around August.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is about 1:8. The teachers are very approachable over email as well as personally. Quality of faculty members is very good. All of them are best in their area of research: Professor Venkat Raman in HR, Professors Kavita Singh and Sengupta in OB, Professor Harsh Verma in Marketing, Professor Singhania in Finance, among others. There are 4 semesters across 2 years. The maximum marks per subject is 100, divided as 70 marks for an end semester examination and 30 marks for internal assessments, depending on instructor's discretion. Overall there are 4 end semester examinations in 2 years. The exams are not easy and people who don't study generally flunk and have to reappear.
Interview Experience
There is a PI which contains a one minute extempore too. Personal interview revolves around the candidate's background, SOP and general awareness. I did not prepare anything specific for this round as such.
Night Life
There are various hangouts at Kamla Nagar like McDonald's, Wendy's, Starbucks etc. Library opens till 5 pm. Classes start at 9 am and go usually till 4 pm. Entire DU is an open campus with various hangouts available throughout night and day.
