College Life in Behala College

Since we have any system mostly the education provided now is market ready based where the student can apply practical knowledge and little bit of theory knowledge to get into jobs and get employed. I think that this teaching process needs to be changed because students are not learning the base of this course instead there being taught how to get employed even after completion of 2 years in the course

There is no option for paid internships but there are many study field visit internships like the one I visited recently where our teachers took us to Rabindra sadva Lake to have a field visit which was a part of our internship and make a presentation about various skills and movements for different kinds of birds we watch their we also learn how to measure salinity alkalinity of the pond waters. We acompared the presence of birds near our college pond and Rabindra Sarovar Lake and also the Panasree Park. Hence we got the idea of various diversity depending on different ecological system.

As much as have heard most of the students usually go out of city to study MSc after completing the BSc course our college have only two MSc departments that is Physics and Chemistry. Usually companies come and want to take MSc completed students for job purposes since most students go out of city to complete for other exams like IIT JAM. Placements in our college is very minimum the students completing BSc usually get placements wearing from 50000 to 100000 rupees per year.

I am in second year now and usually the fees that was taking from me in first year was 11000 during the time of admission after 6 months second semester started where the fees was 3000 hence average fees for each semester varies from 3000 to 8000 just exception is in the first admission. The fees for annually may very from 14000 to 18000 depending on which semester is the student studying the fees is taken in 6 months manner where 6 months indicate each semester. The college provides many scholarships like Swami Vivekananda scholarship which gives 18000 and other scholarships for females like kanyashree etc. Other department like chemistry,physics botany took around 14000 each year according to my batchmates.

Usually freshers fest is always organised during the month of January to celebrate the first year rookies admission in our college where many famous singers are brought like Sonu Nigam,Usha Uthup etc. There are no clubs like that are so

Usually usually in my time that is 2023 call you admission was to be held without any admission test full stop the student must provide respective marks of the class 12 board exams related to the course and feeling the website for each and every college they want to apply. Merit list is created on the basis of the marks code from various students approaching the college is number of seats are left then each student gets occupied filling the seat and getting admission. But recently I have heard that our state minister have organised a new website where a student can apply to all the colleges falling under Calcutta University and other University as well by feeling up one form and applying directly to the various colleges. A merit list is created on the basis of the college list selected and seats allotted to a particular college if the number of seats are finished in a desert college without the student getting a chance the student can sit from mop up round upgradation round. Behala college is the only college in Kolkata having a NAAC grade of A++ because of the huge infrastructure and facilities I did not apply to admission do I got in to other colleges because of this sole reason.

The relationship between the faculty members and the students are very limited because teachers don't ask doubts from their own students need to approach the teachers and clear their own doubts the exam system is very much limited to teachers notes where a student must listen to the teachers advise take notes properly so that Deccan School good marks in the university exam. A good point to add is that practical classes are always properly held with good equipments so that we do not face difficulties during the main University practical exam. The exam for the each semester is held and the end of 6 months. Students need to clear each semester to go to next year is the field to clear one semester they will be clearing it in the next years semester.

We do have a own gym and a huge library. Our college does not provide any Hospital facilities sin cities mostly occupied by the students of home state who live near the college like me but I have seen PG for students coming from out of state. We have a famous spot to hangout as well - Parnasree Park. And yes the locality is safe to roam at night
