Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty well designed in my opinion. However, some papers were not required and seemed unimportant like the Sociology of Food and Culture. Most papers were taught well, especially in Political Science. Papers like Major Constitutional Systems and International Relations were taught exceptionally well and designed keeping in mind the relevance.

Placement Experience

4

After the 2nd year, you are offered the option to register for placements. Various companies like Goldman Sachs, EY and NGOs like TeachForIndia visit the college yearly for placements. I am not very aware of the placement scenario in the college as I am planning on pursuing my masters immediately after college and hence, am not looking to get placed. The placement cell in the college is very functional however, and give time-to-time updates about placements and internship opportunities.

Fees and Financial Aid

I applied through the NRI quota so my first year fee was Rs. 78,000. In the second and third years, it was Rs.45,900. I had no scholarships. The yearly fees included tuition fees as well as other fees. For supplementary examinations, they charge Rs. 500 per paper, and the same for reevaluation of papers. For extra credit courses, the fees range from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,000. There are a number of scholarships and fee concessions avaliable and can be accessed through their website.

Campus Life

5

There are a lot of clubs on campus that are active and take up numerous activities. They also provide credits. Working in clubs has been a great experience for me as it has exposed me to a lot of aspects about working in a team and delivering your tasks. Various sectors in these clubs like event management, social media, public relations, graphic designing, ideation, help students get well versed with working in these areas and get an experience of these areas. Attendance is also compensated for working for these clubs. Clubs are a great way to network while in college.

Admission

I had applied to various colleges in DU, as well as Jamia Millia Islamia. I did not get into these colleges, as I did not qualify after giving the entrance examinations. As I waited for my results which came in October, I had already joined my current college. I also got settled in Bangalore and the city started growing on me though I disliked it in the beginning. The admission process at Mount Carmel was very simple. After applying online, I got a call from my HoD which was my interview. It was very simple and she just asked me about my interests and why I wanted to join the course. There were no entrance examinations for my course but for specific courses, there are exams. The overall admission process was smooth and easy.

Faculty

3

There are enough faculties for students. The quality of faculty really depends on the course. I know some really amazing faculty in the English Department, the Political Science Department, tue History Departments and the Communications Department. The professors in Sociology Department, however, are really underqualified, especially 2 of the 3 professors. They don't know the subject matter in depth, and it shows in their lectures. The course curriculum is pretty good in most semesters, designed to give a firm understanding of the topics. In general, most professors I know maintain a good relationship with their students.

Night Life

1

The college closes by 5PM and students are not allowed inside post that. Hostel students are not allowed inside the campus post 6PM. So there is practically no nightlife on campus as nobody is allowed inside at night.

Other Applied Colleges

Placement Experience:

The university does have a placement team which faculy and student led. Studnets become eligible for placements towards the end of their fourth year - last semeter. Approximately 100-150 NGO's come to campus for recruiting. The university does not promote private firms for placement but students can apply indivitually. The average pay is 20 Lakh per year. Many students after undergraduation opt for higher studies, so is my plan. But most of the master's students opt for placement and 98% - 99% get placed into NGO in top positions. I plan to pursure a masters degree after my undergraduation, preferably in economics.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I selected BA(English) course. Because I was quite good at English that's why I chose it. And I still Didn't go to college. Because our class starting date didn't announce by the college (Kittel arts college, Dharwad). That's why I have no idea about teaching staff and facilities. Of course, I hope it will be the best that I heard about this (kittel arts college, Dharwad) college. I heard only positive comments about this college.

Placement Experience:

In the final year students become eligible for placements and we have placement cell also. In 2nd year only we have attended 2-4 news channels interview and training. But due to pandemic, we didn't attend placements and all. And our seniors to didn't attend for placements because they are interested in higher education. So the percentage of placements is not clear, but for us, they prepared fully to attend any type of job interviews and also to handle all juniur of news channel and newspaper.
