What Students Say
Likes
- IITE is specifically designed to train future educators. This specialized focus could be appealing to students passionate about teaching and shaping young minds. So, our coursework was not that hectic. One can get enough time for your personal stuff.
- IITE is situated near some good places like Mahatma Mand. So sometimes you will opportunity tovisit there from college, which is otherwise not easy to get inside. And also there Swarnim Park just behind it, so you can go there if you want.
- You will get opportunity to make friends as Gujarati people are generally friendly, and also you will get several opportunities to participate in co-curricular activities. So, it will be overall fun experience.
Dislikes
- The campus is too small. They organise several activities, but they lack proper infrastructure. During rainy season specially, it gets even worse.
- If you are Gujarati then it's okay. If you are a non-gujarati, then you might get bored here. First of all they won't organise any fest and all. And whatever function they will organise it will be involving ONLY Garba and Singing.
- The food in canteen is not that good, and they don't have good places to eat nearby. So unless you don't have your own vehicle or you don't bring your own lunch, you might have to remain hungry during lunch.
Course Curriculum Overview
Unlike a standalone M.Sc., this program combines in-depth subject knowledge (M.Sc.) with pedagogical expertise (M.Ed.) equipping you to effectively teach your chosen science field. And since it is the only University that offers M.Sc+M.Ed in 3 years, so that's why i personally came to this college. Curriculum is kind of okay. If you focused more on the education aspect rather than science, then this course is for you. The syllabus of Education is such that it aligns with the syllabus of UGC NET. So, if you study well, at least education part, then clearing UGC NET will be piece of cake. Thiu8I can't say the same thing about CSIR NET. For my side i would suggest that they should improve their science part as well. So that if students are not interested in Education, then at least they are prepared to fight with students from other colleges in their major steam as well. As i mentioned earlier, that they will have exams every semester timely. Internals will be there after two months in general. And then 1 week before final exam will be your preliminary exam and then final semester exam. Exams are easier even if you prepare little to moderate. You can easily score above 7 cgpa.
Internships Opportunities
There won't be any paid internship opportunities that you will get in this college. Only the internship opportunities that are there in your coursework will be availed to you. But if you are qualified enough, then this college will provide you opportunity to be a research assistant with average salary of 50k per month. Other than that, you won't get any specific internship opportunity.
Placement Experience
From the last semester, students will become eligible for campus placements. If you are passout, then also you will be getting opportunity to participate in the Placements. For placements, they will call private schools from nearby like from Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, etc. They will be good to best schools. The best part about these placements is that you will also get chances to get international schools like that in Dubai, Kuwait, etc. If you are talking about local schools nearby IITE, then they will provide you with average package of 300000 per annum. And international schools will provide you an average package of 900000 per annum. Almost 50% students usually get selected for local schools and around 10% to 15% students will be able to get placed in foreign schools as well. The criteria of selection might differ from school to school. I personally didn't opt for placements because i wanted to go for further studies. After getting the degree now I have applied for PhD in various universities and looking forward in higher education.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course that I had was M Sc.,M.Ed (Mathematics), and since we had no laboratory works and thus our fees was less than other science students like as that of Chen aur Physics students. We had to pay semester wise fees which was 25000 everything included, and so for a year it becomes 50000. Library fees will be 1500, and laboratory fees is 2000. If you are students of Botany, Physics and Chem, then your sem fees would be 27000. English dept. Students had same fees and us i.e., 25000 per Sem. Then for examination, again you need to pay 1500 per Sem.
Campus Life
IITE offers a vibrant campus life, with a strong emphasis on both academic and social development. Students can engage in various clubs and organizations, such as the literary club, the drama club, and the sports club, providing opportunities for creative expression, skill development, and social interaction. There is also Teachers Tune initiative where one can showcase there linguistic skills. Annually, IITE conducts Annual Fest named as Kalakunj, wherein you will get several inter-college competition, and overall enjoy the activity. The campus infrastructure is well-equipped with modern facilities, including a library, computer labs, and sports facilities. You will get variety of magazines, books and journals as well for your academic work. Each classroom is equipped with projector. I won't say the infrastructure is top class, but yeah it will do the job. In computer lab, you will have enough computers where you can carry on your work. As i am from Mathematics background, so I don't have detailed about laboratory infrastructure. As per my knowledge, the labs are kind of okay. I won't say it has all the equipments needed for your work. But somehow they manage and try to finish their coursework. I won't say you will get your best experience in this college. But it won't be boring either. Overall IITE will provide you with average campus experience.
Admission
Acutually for my masters, i only applied for two colleges. One was IITE and other was RIE. I saw the entrance paper of this college, and was confident that i will get admission in this college, so thats why i didnt opt for any other college. My only reason of getting admission here was that i could save one year and get both M.Sc.,+M.Ed. I didnt get rejection from other colleges. The thing is both the RIE entrance and IITE entrance fell on the same date. And i chose to appear for the entrance of IITE. In order to get admission in IITE, you have to appear for I3T entrance exam which will be there in month of June-July. There will 120 questions and you will have 2 hours. Questions will be easy only. You just have to clear the cutoff and you will get admission. For general category if your score is above 70-75 then you will be definitely getting admission here.
Faculty
Well there are enough faculties for your course work. Faculties are overall good. Just don't expect something too much. Just like every other colleges, you will have good and bad faculties. Some of the faculties I liked were Sudhir Tandel, Divya Sharma, Hemant Maurya and Dhananjay Deshmukh. Other were good too. I liked them because of their nature and the way they taught. Few of the faculties have very fragile ego, so they might get hurt if you say something against their wish. so you need to take care of that as well. Regarding exams, it will be easy but lengthy. They will have 2 internal exams, 1 preliminary exam and then final exam per semester. It won't be that though. Little to moderate preparation can bri5you good grades. Just go to classes daily. You faculty should see you in the campus every now and then. That's all.
Night Life
There aren't any good cafes or restaurants just near the college. But if you are willing to go 2 km away then you can get plenty of restaurants. 6km away from IITE, there is a place called Sargasan, there you will get plenty of cafeteria and good restaurants. Though there is no night kife inside the college campus, and noone will be allowed inside after 6pm. Near to college itself there is Mahatma Mandir and Swarnim Park, where you can chill with your friends or have walk if you would like. Within the 3 km radius of the college, you will also get few gyms and PGs where you can live. There isn't any good place in Gandhinagar to visit. But yes you can always go to Ahmedabad as the road connectivity is excellent there. In Ahmedabad, there are several places to visit like Science city, Sabarmati Riverfront, Kankaria Lake, etc.
