Likes

Teachers were very nice and well qualified. They knew to teach us well even with the limited resources at the college.

Dislikes

Infrastructure was not developed fully. Not furnished but I think it would have been improved
Labs lacked necessary equipment to conduct experiments.

Course Curriculum Overview

In terms of relevance the course material was designed by the University. The material lacked relevance to the industry trends. As we were studying between 2012-2016 the books which were published in 1980s/1990s. And mostly the topics were not well understood without teachers' assistance.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I had applied through college counselling system and given a Sikh religous exam which gives students from the Sikh background a special provision of admissions. This gave me a fee waiver in the tution fees and I paid 30,000/ year although the fees was 1,00,000/ year

Campus Life

The infrastructure of the college was under construction when I joined. Even there was a student strike in the first semester as the students were disappointed with the claims made by the admin about the college facilities. But slowly things started improving. The was a college body which conducted weekly social and literary events for the students to participate and express their talent.

Admission

I chose this college due to personal reasons as I was not in a position to leave my hometown, and this college is located within 10 mins walk from my home so I thought it would be good. Moreover I got a fee waiver on the tution fees that is why I didn't research about any other college.

Faculty

The faculty members were all well trained and qualified. The all had a rich industry experience to train us. As per the course like all engineering programs the course had 8 semesters to be covered in the period of 4 years. There were 3 MSTs happening at the end of each month from which an assessment is generated by considering 2 best scores from the 3. This assessment was then added to the final examination conducted by the university(I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University) at the end of each sem.

Night Life

The nightlife around the college is really safe as the college is located in a posh locatlity of Amritsar. The hostels are also safe and well managed by the wardens. Apart from this there are many this to explore nearby like eating outlets, malls, gyms etc.

Likes

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

Dislikes

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events
infrastructure is not that good , as they were should on the online it is dii
Placement cell provides opportunities but the stronger industry connections.

Placement Experience:

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

A Vibrant Campus with good learning and great opportunities

Likes

good infrastructure , large libraries and practical labs
helpful and large opportunities in campus

Dislikes

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

The curriculum is relevant and covers core cse subjects like programing DSA and DBMS . it provides good fundamental for placements and further studies , more practical projects and industry based teaching would improve it .

Less opportunities for core branches as less core companies visit campus
75 percent attendance policy for classes
Very high fees compared to other colleges

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Inside NITJ- Beyond the Brochure

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

I like my couse btech with computer science because it has high change to geeting high paying jobs and to build a successful career with my opinion they can improve their faculty with higher education qualification

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

I like the machines that's why I choose the mechanical branch in engineering line. Noida , Gurgoan , Chandigarh , Bengluru and many other areas for improvements in the course curriculum and teaching methods.

Good infrastructure, campus and faculty. Have to improve placements and industrial visits.

Likes

The campus is very green and clean. Infrastructure is good and one can feel fresh air here in campus
The faculty is excellent, almost all of the professors and assistant professors have a degree from renowned institutes. So they know their subject and field very well.
Hostels are good and affordable. Although the hostels itself are old, services are good and you get a nice room for the price/rent

Dislikes

The crowd isn't good. Always demotivated to do anything productive regarding studies. Some people are just here for time-pass
Very less site and outdoor visits. For practical experience, they should conduct industrial visits, but that happens rarely
Placements are really Dry and there is decline in company visits for placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Pros of taking Admission in KCET

I chose this college due to its hugh background, khalsa college is one of the oldest colleges in India , other colleges in my area didnt had the course I was looking for, the course Radiology and Imaging Technology was only available in Khalsa college of engineering and technology, Guru Ram Das University of Healthcare sciences and Amritsar Group of colleges, The admission process of our college is very simple, one just needs to go for counseling and then filla form, after that give the admission fees, its that simple....Read More
