Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum at VIT Bhopal is comprehensive and industry relevant, particularly for cyber security and digital forensics. It emphasizes practical learning with subjects like ethical hacking and digital forensics. The curriculum prepares students well for real world applications, but it could be improved by updating outdated topics and incresing practical exposure through live projects. Exams, including midterms and finals, are moderately challenging, supported by continuous assesments that help reduce exam pressure. Overall, its balanced yet needs refinement.

Internships Opportunities

4

VIT Bhopal provides diverse internship oppurtunities with top companies like Amazon, Deloitte, Microsoft, Dell, Intel, Infosys, Cognizant and TCS. Internships include roles in software development, frontend/backend developer, data science, cyber security and digital forensics, with stipends ranging from INR 10,000 to 50,000 per month. Projects focus on coding, data analysis vulnerability assessments, and digital evidence handling, giving students valuable real world experience and skills for future career opportunities.

Placement Experience

4

Placements at VIT Bhopal are strong, especially for CSE and Cyber Security students, with eligibility starting from the 7th semester. Top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Deloitte, Cognizant visit the campus, offering roles in software development, cybersecurity and consulting. The highest package reaches around INR 50-60 LPA, with average package randing around INR 8-9 LPA. Approximately 85-90% of students secure placements. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in cybersecurity possibly with certifications like CEH or CISSP, or further academic studies in the field.

Fees and Financial Aid

YEARLY FEE STRUCTURE:- Tuition Fee= 1,98,000 inr / year Caution Deposit= 3000 inr (one time) Registration Fee= 5000 inr (one time) Total annual Fee= 2,01,000 inr duration of course is 4 years and total fees is 7,95,000 inr some batchmates in cse core course are paying 1,78,000 inr / year and some with speacializations are paying 1,98,000 inr/year based on ranks in VITEEE (VIT entrance exam) we are divided based on ranks. Lesser the ranks lesser the fees. category 1 being the lowest fees with 1,98,000 inr/yr following category 2= 2,50,000inr/yr, category 3= 3,30,000 inr/year, category 4= 4,00,000 inr/yr and finally category 5= 4,80,000 inr/yr. lab and development fees are generally included in the tuiton fees. The fees structure of VIT Bhopal has shown an increasing trend over the years, especially for higher catagories (category 2-category 5). The category 1 fee is relatively stable but may also increase based on inflation and university policies. SC/ST and other reserved categories may avail state/national scholarships but this does not apply to the ones belonging to general caste.

Campus Life

5

Campus life at VIT Bhopal is dynamic, with annual festivals like Riviera and GraVITas offering creative and technical platforms. The library provides extensive academic resources, while classrooms are equipped with modern tech for interactive learning. Sports activities and extra currricular activities, including robotics club, linux club and literary groups, foster personal development. These students run clubs and events enhance social life and community spirit, creating a vibrant and engaging campus experience.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostel at VIT Bhopal offers well maintained, shared rooms with basic amenities like beds, study tables amd Wi-Fi. The food quality is decent, with a variety in non veg and veg options, although they can be repititive. Hostel fees (incl. mess charges) ranges between 45,000-50,000 INR per semester. For rented accommodations, PGs near Kolar Road offer affordable options, with rent ranging from INR 5000-8000 per month, and the area is safe and well connected to campus.

Admission

I chose VIT Bhopal over SRM, Amity, Manipal and KIIT due to its specialized curriculum in Cyber Security and Digital Forensics, strong placement record (90% placement rate) and modern infrastructure focused on hands on learning. While I received offers from SRM and Amity, Manipal's entrance exam was a challenge. The admission process at VIT is based on the VITEEE exam, with merit based categories affecting fees. Overall, VIT Bhopal offered the best fit for my academic and career aspirations.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is 1:20 ensures personalized attention. Most professors are approachable and supportive, fostering a good learning environment. However many faculties rely heavily on theories which makes the class boring and uninteractive. Although there are no specific faculties whom I didnt like, its just that sometimes their classes become boring but its alright. The curiculum at VIT Bhopal is well structured, especially for specialized courses like cloud computing, AIML, Cyber Security. It includes a mix of core subjects and electives, allowing students to explore areas of interest. The exam system includes Mid sem exams (20%), End sem exams (50%), Internals (30%) through assesments, quizzes, lab works. The marking scheme is generally based on relative grading with grades S,A,B,C,D,F, where grades depend on the overall performance of the class. The exams are moderately challenging, focusing on both theory and practical knowledge.

Night Life

4

The nightlife at VIT Bhopal is calm and peaceful, but the only con is that they dont allow us to go to gyms and library after 8pm. Although night canteens are open till 9pm (ideally 9:30pm). Students often unwind at the central garden area, basketball court or at the open fields. Outside the campus, places like DB City Mall and nearby eateries provide entertainment. The campus and surrounding area are safe, offering students a secure environment for late night walks and socializing, contributing to a well rounding and relaxing college.

Other Applied Colleges

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology - [KIIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I always wanted to become an expert in the fields of cyber security but KIIT does not have any cyber related courses yet and hence i preferred VIT Bhopal University over KIIT. Moreover the placements of KIIT weren't as good as VIT Bhopal University. KIIT

You become eligible to sit for placements in 7th semester , that is , in your 4th year. There are companies like Google, Amazon, Deloitte, Accenture, Axxela, American Express, BNY Melon, Adobe , Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Optum, Oracle, etc. But in other IITs which are also 2nd generation, more companies (around 50) comes for on campus placements . The highest pay is mostly for Software development and Quant roles. Last year it was around 1 Cr per annum of a Computer Science student which is really great. And the average package was around 25-26 Lakhs per annum. Last year , around 88% of all students including B.tech and M.tech got placed with decent salary.
