Course Curriculum Overview

4

LPU provides good course curriculum. It is one of the things that I like about LPU that it updates its curriculum based on industry demands. For eg. As AI was in demand after launch of chat-gpt, LPU introduced a course named Genrative AI which taught us about LLMs prompt engineering etc. Apart from this curriculum is designed by considering 2 aspects, placements and higher studies. Subjects like Computer organisation and design, Automation theory etc are in curriculum which are important for exams like GATE and also courses like DBMS, C++, DSA etc which are important from placement point of view are also included in the curriculum Practical approach is followed in teaching which I believe is very good as practical implementation is very necessary. One drawback is that a specific subject is not taught in very detail as they have to cover it in a span of 90 days. If you have to study it in detail you have to do it by yourself. LPU just teaches you the basics of the subject and rest is upto you. Talking about the difficulty level of exams, it is average as LPU has academically strong as well as weak students so exams are designed cinsidering both. Even if you fail an exam, you are provided with 5 attempts to clear it so there is not much pressure of exams as such

Internships Opportunities

3

One thing that I like about LPU is that it provides on job training opportunity for 1 year. You can opt for OJT after 3rd year which is paid so that you can get experience before getting into corporate world. Many major companies like microsoft, google, amazon visit LPU to hire Interns and also they offer decent package to the students. One of the student from LPU was hired by microsoft as an intern and had offered a stipend of 50,000 rs monthly. So LPU does provide the opportunity like LPU brings in the companies. The management brings more than 500 companies including big companies like microsoft, google, zoom, amazon, accenture etc. Now it is upto students that how they grab this opportunity Most of the students get hired by mass recruiters but if you maintain good cgpa and have good coding skills you can easily get good internship

Placement Experience

3

Placement cell of LPU is quite good. Management brings almost 500 companies every year which shows that they provide opportunity to students, now it's upto the students that how they grab this opportunity. One of the LPU Allumini backed a package of 3 cr annually at zoom. Ofcourse it was off campus but LPU takes pride in it. Speaking about on campus placements, as far as I know, many students have backed packages upto 60 laks per annum in top companies like google, amazon, Accenture etc. LPU provides students with additional PEP classes in which they groom you for the interviews well before the actual placement drives which enhances your chances of getting a good package. My plan is to take on job taining after 3rd year and getting a ppo from the same company

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee sturcture at LPU is considered semesterwise. When I took admission in the university, the fee sturcture was 1,20,000 per semester and generally there are 2 semesters in a year which accounts to 2,40,000 per year. The fees are bound to increase every year. My juniors are currently paying 1,40,000 per semester which accounts for 2,80,000 per year Apart from the tuotion fees, LPU charges seperately for residential facilities which depends on your choice whether you want AC, non-AC room or an apartment depending on number of room mates. I am paying 1,10,000 per year for a standard 4 seater AC room. Also LPU charges seperately for placement services. I paid 16,000 rs to opt for placement services There are no other mandatory fees apart from these. LPU doesn't charge based upon any reservation. Same fees is applicable for all castes oncluding SC/ST Open OBC and also same for all genders I got a scholarship of 48,000 per semester which accounts for 96,000 per year which is deducted from my tution fees. LPU provides upto 100% scholarships for sportperson who has played at national pr state level I got scholarship through an exam which is conducted by LPU itself called LPUNEST which hass regestration fees of 500 rs. and provides scholarship upto 40% in tuition fees.

Campus Life

4

LPU has best campus life. You can find something or other going on every day. There are multiple events lined up every week. There are atleast 4-5 EDM nights planned every month. and big events such as coke studio and sub burn also take place at LPU. All these events are orgainsed by student bodies. LPU has a sepaerate department called division of student welfare which takes care of the the student engegement activites. Many stars and bollywood celebrities like shahrukh khan, amir khan, akshay kumar, deepika padukone, ranveer singh have visited LPU and singers like Darshan Raval, Sunidhi Chauhan, Asses Kaur, Anuv Jain have visited LPU. Talkin about tech fests, there are many hackathons and workshops conducted at LPU including Smart India Hackathon which is national level Hackathon

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel facility is one thing i feel LPU has not provided up to the mark. Of course they have given us with many options like standard rooms, dorms, apartments etc but they charge too much for it. Like I have opted for 4 seater Standard AC room and I paid 1,10,000 rs for it which I believe is too much and these hostels are not that luxurious to charge this much money. You have to spend almost 1,50,000 for hostel and mess facility. Also the electricity is free only upto a certain limit. Like we are provided with 350 units for free and charged beyond it. Like you are already charging fir hostels this much. Talking about locality. The surroundings are as bad as good the campus is. There is no proper road in surrounding areas, no proper societies or colonies and all kind of illegal operations take place over there so you arent left whith any option than going for hostel

Admission

Honestly speaking, my JEE mains rank was very low and I was asked to pay donations to get into private universities. I was getting into some government universities but wan'nr getting my desired course and all the private institutes had high fees and on top of that they were asking for donations Whereas LPU had decent fees and also was providing me with a scholarship of almost 1,00,000 rs which was the first factor I considered. Also I was getting my desired course which is B.Tech CSE which was the second factor I considered. LPU has students from all over the world so I got to interact with students from different ethnicity. Also LPU has semester exchange program which offers you to learn abroad in partner universities of LPU for a semester in same fees you are paying at LPU which i foud fascinating and also it provides credit transfer program in which you can study half of the course at LPU and half abroad. At last LPU offers placements at the end of 3rd year itself. You can either study 4th year at LPU or you can opt for on job training for 1 year which is paid so considering all these factors, I opted to study in LPU

Faculty

3

There are 72 students in each section which are further divided into 2 groups of 36 each. Theory classes are conducted for both the groups together but the practical classes and tutorials are conducted seperately for each group. Most of the faculties are very knowlegable and focus on practical implementation more while few faculties are strict and donot believe in interacting with students, they just come, do their part, and leave As LPU follows semester pattern I will explain marks and exam distribution according to the semester. Firstly for theory subjects there are two major exams mid terms and end terms. Mid terms are of 30 marks each and 20 marks are added in the final evaluation where as end terms are of 60-70 marks and 50 marks are added in the final evaluation Apart from this, we have 3 Academic tasks per subjects which can be a test, project or viva. Best 2 out of 3 are considered for evaluation and 25 marks are added in final evaluation. 5 marks are given for attendance. If you have more than 90% attendance in that particular subject, ypu are given full 5 marks. For practical subjects no mid terms are there, only end terms are considered which contribute 70 marks in the final evalutaion rest is same 25 marks for Academic tasks and 5 marks for attendance.

Placement Experience:

Students start becoming eligible for campus placements from the sixth semester, and that’s when most training sessions for aptitude, coding and soft skills also begin. The placement cell is active throughout the year and brings in a mix of product-based, service-based and mid-tier tech companies. The number of offers varies every year, but CSE-related branches usually get the highest share of opportunities. Companies come for roles like software trainee, analyst, QA, support engineering and web development, so there’s a good spread of entry-level roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

There is an option for students to opt for placements from campus in our university and if we seect that option we are given special training by the university it self in fields which we think we are weak. That include technical and non technical fields like soft skills. University also ties up with other triaining companis to train us in better way by calling tutors from outside the campus for teaching us. Over all if we consider we are already well trained by university to sit for on campus placements and we usually get a good paying job which also helps us to gain more knowledge and improve ourself.
