- The college has a good infrastructure. You have all the facilities you want. You have free access to wi-fi in the college. You have a food court with all the varieties. The campus has some really nice places to sit out.
- The campus is situated in the heart of Ahmedabad. The view from the top floors is breath-taking. The campus goes green with solar power. You have digital classrooms to make learning easy. The laboratories are equipped with all the necessary apparatus
- If you're looking for admission in aeronautical engineering, this is the best choice for you. The campus has a real-size twin-engine aircraft for common display. You have a wind tunnel testing lab, avionics lab, airframe & engines for study.
Dislikes
- The college is so crowded during morning hours as most of the students have their classes in the morning. I hope they will do something about it. Like, expanding the campus area or something like that.
- There isn't enough parking space for the students. People actually get late for parking their vehicles outside and walk all the way to get into the campus.
- Each block has at least 6 floors. And there's only 1 elevator for the students. The other is only reserved for the staff. Most of the times, students have to climb 6 floors to get to the class.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always dreamed of flying and had passion towards aviation. I'm currently pursuing my ground classes for CPL to become a commercial pilot. So, I chose this course to explore the field of aviation and learn things before I get to my flight training. That decision actually helped me a lot. It made me confident. It honed my skills. I was surrounded by good people who helped me improve myself. The curriculum prepares you for real-world applications. Connecting with people, improving your skills, working on your strengths and overcoming your limitations is what the curriculum teaches you here. The college hosts workshops, seminars and events for student development. Internships and projects are the part of your curriculum. This helps you gain experience in your field. You're surrounded with the people who can guide you during your each step. The college has a trainig and placement cell that trains students for real-world. They conduct mock interviews and improve your personality development skills that can actually help you.
Internships Opportunities
Parinda UAV India was the first company that I worked at. My role was a UAV designer. Then I worked at Sudaksh Technologies and Saksham Technolutions as an aeromodeller and instructor. I have worked on various projects during my tenure. Designing a fixed wing UAV, Flying wing VTOL and drones. I have recived a grant of 1.5 lakhs from the incubation center at LJ University to work on my project. My roles at each company has provided a new opportunity for my growth.
Placement Experience
As I mentioned earlier, the college has a training andd placement cell to guide you right from the start. You have internship from 5th semester. The college even finds you a company to complete your internship. If everything is fine, you'll continue the internship until your last semester and get placed in the same company after the completion of your course. You'll start getting salary as an experienced employer. Most of the companies that visit our college are software. There are few companies that are actually into aeronautics. The highest package received, that I heard from someone was around 6LPA. No company today, offers more than that for a student in campus drives. This is harsh reality. Even after working as an intern for 2 years, the companies ask you to join as a fresher. You can't blame the college for that. I'm planning to become a commercial pilot. That's the reason why I didn't pay any attention to the campus drives. Even I have worked in 3-4 companies during my internship period. But, that was only to test my capability to survive in a real world.
Fees and Financial Aid
I took admission in ASOIT (Aditya Silver Oak Institute of Technology), which is an integral part of Silver Oak University. You also have SOCET (Silver Oak College of Engineering and Technology), SOCAT, etc,. It depends on which course you are willing to pursue. I' ve done my bachelors in aeronautical engineering. The tuition fee for the course is 31,500 per semester. I got a concession of 30% based on my score in JEE mains. So, I've paid 22,050 per semester. You have to pay 10,000 as a security deposit during your admission (It is refundable). Then, you'll have to pay 1,500 as registration fee. All these are mandatory as an ID will be created on your name on the student portal of the college website. You can login to the student portal with the credentials that you'll receive upon completing your registration. You can pay your tuition fees, exam fees and get your digital score cards. There's a lot of stuff you can do on it. You'll get to know later. The exam fees now is 2,500 per semester. Back when I studied, it was 1,500. You have to pay 3,000 as convocation fee in your last semester. There aren't any charges other than these. Except that you have to pay for your lab manuals and project reports. (The amount is mentioned in INR)
Campus Life
The college has many technical, cultural and sports events throughout the year. You have celebrity guest apperances at the campus. Navratri is the best time that is celebrated in the college. RAAS RASIYA is the garba night where students and faculty gather to celebrate dussehra. You have the annual cultural fest called JUNOON. You can sing, dance, act, host and entertain. That is the best opportunity for you to showcase your talent on the stage. You have technical events such as PROJECT FAIR. You can work on any idea and develop it into a project to win exciting prizes. You have sports events and many more. Just visit the insta handle of silver oak university. You'll get to know everything.
Hostel Facilities
The campus hostel facility is only for the girls. It is safe and secure with 24/7 CCTV surveillance. The amenities are good. You have a mess and dining area to have your food. Free access to wi-fi. You can include other basic amenities. My stay was at Gurukrupa PG Services in Gota, which is 4km away from the campus. I had all the facilities needed with minimum expenses. The meal quality and menu are okay. You can manage. From there, you also have an access to public transport to college.
Admission
The other college I applied to was very expensive. When I say expensive, it's really a lot more expensive. The quality of education is actually a lot better here. And yet again, it totally depends on the student. May be the other college had good amenities in terms of campus area, infrastructure or so. But, what really matters is the opportunity to learn and explore. I was able to manage my academics, my club activities and my personal time without compromising anywhere. My college gave me that flexibility to work at my own pace. Which I doubt that I could do it anywhere else. My admission happened during covid and lockdown. It's also one of the reasons that I ended up in Silver Oak University. But, I never had a regret. The admission process was so smooth. Everything was online as I couldn't physically get to the college.
Faculty
The faculty to student ration in our class was 1:30. The faculty are experienced and supportive. You can never hesitate to ask them for anything. My personal favourite faculty was Mr. Satish. Unfortunately he left the college in our last year. But, he was really good at teaching stuff and make you learn things with ease. I had my mentor Mr. Keval Kelawala. He's good at heart. He taught me a lot of things in life apart from academics. There aren't any faculty that I dislike. You have internals, externals, mid-semesters and end semester exams in each semester. They aren't difficult if you pay attention to the subject. Only a few students who can't concentrate on their studies fail to clear the exams. The course curriculum covers almost every aspect of the aeronautics. You'll start from the basics and learn many things by the end of the course. There are lot of things you can actually learn from the college. You have CAD modelling & 3D printing lab, a drone lab that provides training and license for drone piloting, an aeromodelling club turn your ideas into reality and there are many more. You'll get to know that too. Apart from academic related activities, the college also encourages your special talent and provides a platform to showcase it. It's in your hands to prove yourself.
