Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is fine. The theoretical part of the curriculum is like any other 5-year law program curriculum which includes all the major laws and acts in the curriculum with BA subjects in the first 3 years. The college has tried to include things like various visits to courts, Jails, Police stations, Parliament and other places to provide practical knowledge to students. As a college situated in a location like Delhi, the college is trying to take advantage of the fact to teach students practical aspects of the law program. These visits are a part of the recently revised curriculum and are very beneficial for the students.

Placement Experience

2

The college provides good placement for BBA and MBA programs. But if we talk about the Law program, there are no such good placements that are provided by the college. Though in papers there are companies and law firms which come to the college hardly any students get those placements or students prefer to go for out-of-college placements as they are better than the ones provided by the college. Students who are really serious about the program and skills are doing fine by finding internships and placements on their own.

Fees and Financial Aid

For the first year, the fees for BALLB 5 year law program was around 1.5 lakhs which included the one time payment fees. For the rest of the years the fees is around 1.3 lakhs per year. As of scholarship the college does provides with the scholarship program which includes scholarships based on EWS category. In the brochure it is also mentioned that the student can avail scholarship on the basis of Merit, Sports quota etc. though none of the students I know of has availed any so can't say anything about the practical aspects of the scholarship program.

Campus Life

3

The overall experience with campus life is somewhat below average as the college does not have any such campus. It is just an 8-story building whose lift hardly works and is not sufficient according to the students and teachers that are in the college. The no. of fests is limited to 2 big annual fests by the college which is zenith organized by the college and the second is more academic fest which is JUSTITIA held in the month of November which is a law fest and has law competitions. Another fest is organized by the University, that is ANOOGUNG held in the month of February and is arranged in the University compound. All three fests are good but these are the only fests organized by the college. The library is good and has a comfortable environment and has most of the necessary academic books needed. Sports is a fairly active club with semester-wise events and a good no. of participation. There are several active clubs in the college dance, singing, NSS, acting, sports, courtroom society etc

Admission

Other than GGSIPU as any other law student, I took CLAT and initially applied to all the NLUs from which I got rejected in the general rounds because of my low CLAT rank. I applied to GGSIPU's top 5 law colleges out of which I got the fourth law college with the program I wanted to pursue. I also got selected in UPSE Dehradun but I didn't go for it because of the very high fee structure of the college. The same was the case with other known colleges. I was also planning to get admission in some college in my city gurugram itself but preferred Gitarattan because it is affiliated with GGSIPU and is located in Delhi which can be beneficial for any law student

Faculty

3

The law faculty is overall between fine to good. Most of the professors are well-versed in their subjects. The law faculty I like the most is Mrs. Sakshi, ma'am. She's our Family Law professor. She's an experienced faculty and her teaching style is so understanbale other than her our economics and political teachers are some of the best faculties. The exams are kind of hectic this year. We have class tests daily for every unit. We had two class test weeks for the 3rd semester. Then semester-end exams are held in college which are average in difficulty level and then University exams. Though students fail in university exams, in my opinion, it's not because they are difficult but because of less preparation from the student's side. The class tests are kind of difficult but they ultimately prepare you for the University exams so no complaints.

At our college to get the PPO is the best way as college hardly has placements opportunities to be honest. Most law colleges though face this issue as placement for law college happens only at top NLUs and all.

Highest package was of 12 lakhs which was offered by Trilegap to one of our students and it was because she herself earned PPO by interning with them for four months. College placements aren't that good as not many lawyers or law firms come to our college for placements.

Not many as Arbitration lawyers and some law chambers which are a prominent name have approached our college to send some students for interview. So, I think PPO is the best way to find placements for students studying law.

Many litigation firms and corporate firms and even institutes which needs associate or young professors come to our college for placements. PPO is what most students get through intenrship and otherwise the next best option is find it ourself as college placements apart for a few are not so great.

Packages aren't as high as NLUs or the other colleges as we hardly get paid but experience is everything in law and we are given placements to experience lawyers and their houses of law. At max 20-30k a month is what we are offered from college placements.

Only 30-40 percent studnets get placed at a salary of some 30-40k as conversion ratio of actual placement is quite low here. We get enough help and assistance but actually only a few manages to. For those who does well in internships gets a direct PPO as our college is a cult name when it comes to legal studies.
