Course Curriculum Overview
I liked the course curriculum and the topics that would be taught for mechanical engineering hence i chose the branch. The curriculum includes theory as well as real life usage based examples and questions that builds us into a great engineer. We have classes 5 days in a week and 3-4 labs per week. The exact class schedule varies for differenr branches.
Internships Opportunities
I dont have much idea about the stipend but a lot of students get internships, internship opportunities are available for every student. The students either go for internships or perform projects that are given by college or clubs.
Placement Experience
From 7th or 8th semester student are eligible for campus placements (not sure but approx). Some of the companies that visit for recruitment are Google, Amazon, Bajaj, ONGC, Accenture Japan, etc. The highest and average oackage offered in my branch (mechanical engineering) are 51 LPA and 12 LPA respectively. Around 75 percent of stydents were placed in my branch (others opted for further higher studies, off campus placements, etc.) I have planned to get a job and continue studies parallely.
Fees and Financial Aid
Per year including hostel is around 2 lakhs 40 thousand rupees. All academic and hostel and mess fees are included in this. There are some fee waivers for some categories whose details are available in the official site of IIT ISM.
Campus Life
We have Concetto fest, the technical fest of our college that happen in October every year, Khanan fest that occur around the time of Concetto and Srijan, the cultural fest of our college that happen in January every year. The library is very huge and contains a lot of space for students and great environment for studying. A humongous amount of books, research papers, jounals are available in the library. We have 4-5 huge buildings totally dedicated for equipments and research related to technology and innovation with great funding from the college. The classrooms are digital classrooms with digital boards installed. A lot of clybs arr run by students and for the students. There are 3 kinds of clubs - Technical, Cultural and Sports.
Hostel Facilities
In first year hostel, in every room we have two beds (each room for two students), 1 wardrobe, 1 fan, 2 tubelights, 1 window, chair and table. There is wi-fi availble for every room routers are placed in nearly every room. The mess food quality is good. The food is very nutritious. The menu has a wide variety of food. It changes every mobth as per the demand of the students. The registration for the hostel happens at the time of registration for college. The fees are around 18000 rupees per semester including the hostel room, mess food, hospital and ambulance facilities.
Admission
I applied for other IITs' Mechanical Engineering but after JoSAA counselling i got iit ism (not a regret at all). I got admission offers from VIT Vellore(CSE) and BITS Pilani(ECE) but ofcourse IIT has its own legacy especially even more in core branches(again not a regret at all :) ) The admission process is - after getting a seat confirmed in JoSAA counselling I received a seat acceptance letter then I had to register online in official site of IITISM and pay the fees. Then after few days/weeks the physical reporting happens along with hostel room allocation (if applied for hostel) The admission process went smoothly without any difficulty.
Faculty
Every class size vary from 60 to 130 students. But the classrooms are spacious so no issue there and the faculties are great. The faculties explain everything in detail and even clear the doubts in between class and even after the class in their respective cabins. I like the teaching of Sarthak Sir (Engineering Mechanics professor). We have either quizzes or assignments before the semester exams once before the mid semester exams and once before the end semester exam. The course curriculum is very much well structured.
