What Students Say
Likes
- You may get to know different students from different districts. So you can get to know about new districts and their culture and life style. You can get to meet good students too
- The food is good and affordable here. It can range from 30 to 180. You can easily have your breakfast and lunch in under 100 rupees. And the quality of the food is good. You will like it. Like the gossip canteen and Nescafe to cool your head ; )
- The area surrounding the University is good. You can get easily anything and the health centre of university is good to do try it if you fall sick.
Dislikes
- The quality of our department is worse. They don't engage us in cousre work, extracurricular activities and events. They just take exams the whole sem without any delay though. They are the first one to take exams in the whole university
- They don't have professor's for each subject. They use scholar's to teach us without even providing us a professional professor whether it's contractual or permanent.
- They give marks on the basis of roll numbers and on the mood. If they like it they will give you score if they don't. They will not give you marks. They just want their material to be written.
Course Curriculum Overview
It's well made. It reflects UGC NET PAPER 2 POLITICAL SCIENCE. If you can study this course thoroughly and with hard work. You van crack UGC NET exam easily. The course is great and show's the effort it was taken to put it together
Internships Opportunities
There are no internships here and no one is giving any internship opportunity here. I had seen no intern here in the one year I had spent here. It's boring, with no opportunity, no way to develop or grow yourself. Just cram.
Fees and Financial Aid
Overall yearly fee is 13,820 which includes everything. Some of the examples are library fee, sport's participation fee, id card fee etc. The fee is same for all the category. There is no concession in fee for any category. Their are scholarships for SC and ST though which depends on merit and seat availability. The amount is betwee 3k to 5k.
Campus Life
It's worse. There are no club's here. No social life as rarely an event occurs and not all can participate in that event. There are no social groups, no unions, no clubs, no activities, no events. The life here is boring. You just come here to give exam your whole 2 years and complete a degree with depression.
Admission
I chose this as it is the main university in Jammu division close to my home. And it was the only one I liked from others I had applied too. I shouldn't had come here because of the thing's my cousin's and friends told me about. It's not a great university. It really isn't. Do try different options. Especially go for Kashmir University. The faculty and campus there is good and brilliant.
Faculty
The professor's are egoistic. They want you to write the material what they send you. They will give marks according to roll numbers and according to their mood. And the faculty does only have 3 professor's as they are using PhD scholar's for teaching us the remaining subjects. The exam is conducted 3 times in a sem. Minor-1 20 marks, Minor-2 20 marks and then Major - 60 marks. There are no assignments, no presentations. Just cram and give exam the whole sem without expecting marks if your roll number is no between 1 to 25. The course is relevant as most of the syllabus covers the UGC NET'S PAPER 2 POLITICAL SCIENCE. So the course is great. But the way of teaching and how it is planned is bad. The difficulty in exams are normal to hard. From 60, around 50-54 manage to pass the exam, the failed one can give retest before majors to pass the minor's. But if the failed in major they have to give with the new batch that paper.
