Reviewing SFIT

The positive side about SFIT is that it's a really good catholic college which maintains discipline in you and gives you an opportunity to display your technical talent and even helps your nuture your hobbies. The only negative remark I've about this college is that the attendance is mandatory for the lectures or the subject teachers at times take severe actions if you are a defaulter in their particular subject.

Engineering is a 4 year course in India. It has 8 semesters, 2 semesters every year. The first year is common for all the branches of engineering. From the second year the students start learning about the subjects the have opted to study. There are a lot of submissions to be completed and a lot of projects to be done. Every semester gas two unit tests and after the second unit test gets over the final submissions are held after which you get around two weeks for preparing for your final exams which last for almost a month. For every exam you'll have atleast 4-5 days holiday. Where you can easily study the entire syllabus easily.

College does provide internships but not a lot of them. The placement and job opportunities are decent in our college, almost 80% students get placed every year. The college puts in a lot of effort to make sure that everyone gets a job.

Iris Mosaic Pragati These are some events that take place in our college. Iris is a cultural fest where all the fun takes place. Mosaic and Pragati are technical fests where one can showcase his technical talent by making different kinds of projects.

The fees per year in St. Francis Institute of Technology is 108000 approximately. It's not very expensive as your get many facilities in this college. There is a decent parking spot where you can park your two wheeler if you travel to college on your vehicle. The library is very good and you have two water filters installed on every floor. The canteen is also really good. You get veg as well as non veg food in the canteen.

I don't have a good idea about the scholarship schemes and the loan facilities but many students who are unable to pay the fees on the time due to any financial problems can speak to the director of the college who is a really generous person.

There are many extracurricular activities that take place during the Iris fest and the mosaic fest. There are a lot of technical games played during the fests. Apart from that the college has a really good football, cricket and volleyball team. The campus even has a basketball and volleyball court where students can play after their lectures are over.

I've not opted for the hostel facilities but many of my friends stay in the hostel. The hostel is exactly in front of the college and the hostel infrastructure looks quite decent. The hostel has a canteen near it where you can have your daily meals and even the hostel rates are not very expensive.

The alumni association or committee was recently introduced in our college and it was really successful, many students joined the committee. There are other committees like the IEEE and CSI in our college which conduct many extracurricular activities and seminar for the betterment of the students. Even the senior students are really helpful.

I had appeared for MH-CET, which is an entrance exam for engineering. After the results were out we had to fill an online application form and on the basis of our scores we were allotted a seat in a particular college. So I got a seat in the 3rd round in SFIT.

The faculty in St. Francis Institute of Technology is really good. They are really supportive and helpful. Some teachers are a little strict but all the staff memebers and the faculty make sure that you understand every topic and put in a lot of effort while teaching.
