What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is diverse; it has people from all across India. People here are honestly humble, and i did not see any sort of ragging around the campus, so i can say that it is well behaved and sort of mannered college.
- The campus is like way massive in terms of area. It has different blocks( Academic Block, Architecture Block, and Lab Complex, along with Multi Purpose Hall).
- The college is equipped with enormous amount of expensive equipment in Labs, which most of the college lacks.
Dislikes
- Being a massive campus, there are many parts of the college which are still under construction for a long time now.
- Also the college lacks sports tournaments to larger levels, like mostly one cannot participate in college-college tournaments of other states big colleges in sports.
- the college is situated in very outskirts of the Bhopal, irony is it is names as VIT Bhopal, but it isn't any close to bBhopal (Bhopal is around 60-70kms away)
Course Curriculum Overview
Overall i would give 7/10 in terms of relevance. It is like any other college out there with the same curriculum across every subject. Practical implementation of the subjects are not as per it should be, so i am pretty dissappointed at that. Learning just the theory part in subjects like computer science would not give one a good job or career, so there is definetely a requirement to be changed. The curriculum clearly doesnot prepare for real world applications or further. The area of improvement should be in all colleges not just this one that the theory is given more preference rather than practical implementation. The frequency and time of exams along with my perspective on the basis of difficulty level is pretty decent is what i believe.
Internships Opportunities
I have heard that Microsoft offered internship to a few students. No doubt internships are provided to students but for a company like google, microsoft gives such opportunities to a very few people. Although there is an industrial training provided to all students of VIT in 3rd year in which they are sent to bangalore, pune, chennai, and hyderabad for industrial training which gives somewhat an edge to VIT in helping students achieve things
Placement Experience
From 7th sem, students are eligible to sit for internship rounds, and after 8th sem, they are allowed to sit for placements. here in this college the sems are divided as: 1.) 2 sems in first year 2.) 3 sems in second year 3.) 3 sems in third year making them 8 semesters. In 4th year, there only placements happen and to be honest is a good way of letting students have some time to prepare well for it. the placement number wise was great by 2023, but since then the numbers i have heard dropped down. percentage of students getting placed is around 50-60%. I personally after getting the degree, is to do job.
Fees and Financial Aid
In VIT Bhopal University, the fee structure is according to the rank one student gets in VITEEE. It is based on the categories and i got enrolled in category 3 which has a fee structure of rupees 4,08,000 yearly and it is not a variable fee( it remains same throughout the entire course). There is nothing as such as caution deposit and the only way of admission to get into the college is through its VITEEE exam, and doesnot have any sort of reservation based entry or fee waiver for any specific caste. Fees for my classmates range from category 1 being around 1,48,000. category 2 being 2,08,000; category 3 being 4,08,000; category 4 being 4,50,000; and category 5 being 5,00,000. The only way to get a scholarship is when one is a state topper of boards.
Campus Life
Here the overall experience is i would say just decent, not too great. it has 2 fests, one technical fest, and non technical named AdVITya. It had pretty good fests last year, but has so many restrictions in it.The way of education here is mostly through online PDFs and not physical books. Although if anyone wants to study from books can get in library itself and has wide range of books, and well maintened library. The library is kind of small in size, cannot accomodate large number of people though. Sports and activities are not too much better here, other colleges lie way ahead. Although there are various events throughout the year.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in hostel in my first year of college. The hostels are inside the campus itself and the distance from academic block is generally around 2kms from any block. It has enormous amount of students firred inside each block, like block 1 has typically around 5000 students in it. The mess food here is pretty decent, could be definitely better and has many sorts of improvement required in their management. Registration for hostels happen through online methods, after one gets admission in college and rooms per bed is alloted through preference based, like a student fills out which bedded room is mostly preferred by him, and gets alloted in subject to VITEEE rank and availibility.
Admission
I honestly didnot feel like coming to this college at the very first place, as the college was pretty far from any nearest city and didnot have a proper college culture, so what i felt was that the college lacked this thing. The other colleges where i applied was KIIT and gave JEE exam and COMEDK. I cracked KIIT, didnt qualify for JEE, and got in most of the colleges of COMEDK, but they werenot as good as the VIT's reputation. VIT had the reputation of somewhere as a good college, so i chose this one over other. It is not like that it is a bad college. it is pretty good in terms of academics, but like every other colleges, it also lacks at some place.
Faculty
The faculties here are 100% doctorate ones. Every faculty has a doctotate degree, so that is a kind of a plus point. The college has vast amount of faculties for every department, and to be very honest, all of them are pretty friendly and helping in the course. According to me, Dr. Bhoomika Choksi, professor of Mathematics, is one of my favorite. Her teaching way and friendly way with everyone in the class motivates everyone to be serious in their courses. I wouldnt say any as such faculties which i did not like, all of them are pretty good here. There are 2 exams per semesters- one mid terms and one end term. If one fails to pass a subject they are given a chance to clear it again in their supplimentary exams, and papers are somewhere mid-range to tough difficulty level. The course is pretty relevant and around 80% passes the course mostly.
