What Students Say
Likes
- The campus of the collage is very green. It has one football ground, basketball and a kabaddi ground which is functional. It also has a gym and swimming pool accessible only if paid.
- The collage also has a very good library with very decent quality chairs and tables, the library also has a large collection of books some of which can be borrowed for particular semester.
- The cleaning management and infrastructure of the collage is up to mark.
Dislikes
- The teaching quality of the teacher is very poor, simply opening a PDF and just dictating it in every class makes the class experiance worst.
- The collage has a very few sports or gaming areas where physical activity can be done, the activeness for sports in this collage among student is very low.
- The college management is very poor, their main focus is on collecting fee and building classes, poor quality teaching and mess food during afternoon. Overall, between quality and quantity this collage chooses on quantity.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I had a keen interest in learning computer science, I had chosen computer science in class 12 and learned some python basic concepts which increased my interest in coding. The course curriculum deals with the overall aspects of teaching Computer Science and its different topics and is as per AICTC. I think there are many ways in which the course curriculum can be improved there are some subjects like UHV (Universal Human Values) which can be taught in a much better way, either by reciting stories or daily-life questions, rather than just giving a lecture on moral values. The teaching methods of the teachers are very poor, they just open a PDF during class and dictate whatever is written in it without making sure that we understand or not, no question practice and note-making are done during the classes. The exams are held as per our academic calendar and are scheduled regularly, the difficulty of the exam is at moderate level.
Placement Experience
The placement training starts in the 5th semester and in the 7th semester, some of the major companies start visiting colleges for placements. One of the major companies that visit for placement is TCS (Tata Consultancy Services). The number of students getting placed is approx 70 percent. The highest package offered was 800000 lakh per annum with an average package of 500000 per annum. My plans after getting the degree would be to join any private company and do a decent job since my core interest is in CS and IT so I might work for some companies like that or I may further attempt to clear UPSE exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
No merit cum need scholarship is provided by this college. The fee for the year 2022 was 1,75,000 for all engineering branches except marine engineering for which the fee was 1,95,000/- per year. The fee for the 2023 and 2024 batches was: 2,25,000 for: --Computer Science and Engineering --Computer Science and Information Technology --CSE - AI and Machine Learning --CSE - Data Science --CSE - IOT and cyber security --Robotics and Artificial Intelligence --Artificial Intelligence and Data Science 97,500 for : -Chemical Engineering -Marine Engineering -Civil Engineering -Electrical and Electronics Engineering -Electronic and Communication Engineering -Mechanical Engineering -Electrical Engineering A time counseling fee of 14,000 will be charged during admission. A detailed fee for all courses and branches can be viewed by searching "C.V. Raman Global University fee structure".
Campus Life
There are a few annual festivals celebrated in this college Ganesh Chaturthi, Roshni Nights in November, and Celegance in March. There is no technical festival. The library of this college is pretty impressive with decent-quality tables and chairs and has a large collection of books some of which can be borrowed. Each classroom in this college is equipped with smartboards and the labs are of decent quality. The faculties of this college are one of the poor aspects because of their poor way of teaching which is just by opening a PDF and lecturing it without providing any notes during classroom hours and most of us have to study through YouTube. The campus lacks extracurricular and sports activities, there is a cricket playground and even a basketball and football ground but only a handful of students went there. There are many clubs for various activities like dramatics, singing and instrument playing, dancing, chess, robotics, and a coding club, some of which are very inactive.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are very nice but it will be good if you live in a single bedroom because most of the students here are just for a time pass and may cause a lot of disturbance if you're a studious student. The food quality of the hostel mess is nice except for the afternoon and in the morning it is limited. The registration for hostel can be done at the semester break or the end of the year i.e. May. The hostel fee for the girls is between 22500 to 35000 non-ac and 35000 to 50000 for ac per semester. The hostel fee for boys is 22500 - 35000 non-ac and 45000 to 60000 for ac. For the attached bathroom Rs 10000/- will be charged per year. The extra charge for mesh food is 20000/- per semester. If you live in Bhubneshwar then the transport charge is 18000/- per year and if you live in Cuttack then 30000/- per year if you opt for transport. I had not rented any room for myself but outside rooms or PG are much cheaper than the hostel fee.
Admission
I had applied to some of the colleges in Bangalore and got selected also but couldn't study there as the expense was very high. Yeah, I got rejected from many of the colleges, it was because of my low marks in JEE Mains which was approximately 73 percentile. Admission to this college is done either based on JEE Mains, CGET, or OJEE marks, most of the students are from Odisha, Bihar, and Jharkhand. There are some international students too who didn't have to take any exams. There is no particular cutoff revealed for this collage but getting 90 percentile in JEE Mains would be more than enough, also getting admission through management quota is also available as most of my classmates including me are through management quota.
Faculty
Each class has 90 students so faculty to student ratio is 1-90. One of the most liked faculties was our Mamata Wagh mam she taught each and every concept very well by writing it on the whiteboard not just lecturing with the help of some PDF like other teachers. One of the most disliked faculty currently in our class is Dr. Ishtiyaq Qureshi, he teaches us DAA (Design and Analysis of Algorithms), and none of the students can understand what he teaches us as he simply opens a PDF and lectures it without providing any notes or solving questions during class, most of the faculties in this collage teaches like him except for math teachers. The two most important exams in this college are Mid-semester and end-semester, other than that quizzes, experiential learning, and assignments carry some marks worth. The difficulty of the exams is generally at a moderate level till mid-semester but slightly increases in end-semester.
