- The mandatory college uniform, it actually feels like I am going to the school
Course Curriculum Overview
I am pursuing btech in chemical engineering in Haldia Institute of technology. Chemical is a very good aspects for jobs as it has huge scopes. Unlike computer science, the curriculum of the course will never change,it's evergreen. And there's the need of a chemical engineer in all the factories your mind can recall now. Also the special thing about HIT is it's chemical engineering department. Placements rate is so high as haldia is a chemical hub and also students can get into internships in government companies like Indian Oil corporation Limited (IOCL) .
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are available in the college. Student's get internships in reputed companies such as Indian Oil corporation Limited commonly known as IOCL and according to reports most of the students get internships.
Placement Experience
I think placement record is quite good in the college. Almost 92% students get placed. From 6th/7th semesters students get eligible for placements. Few name of the companies are Sypnosis, Tech Mahindra, Wipro. Highest package on the college website is 42Lpa. And average is 4-5 lpa. Also students get selected in all india exams like Gate securing good ranks and few of them also bag the under 100 ranks. Qualifying gate will give you the opportunity to pursue mtech in IITs or you can also get selected for government jobs in any PSUs

Rooms are good, a bed including mattress and pillow are provided by hostel and also table and chair are there for each student. The hostel meal varies and it's quite affordable. Admission
Haldia institute of technology is always preferable over other colleges when it comes to chemical engineering. As the place where the college is located Haldia is a chemical hub, also famous for the Haldia petrochemicals. Yes I applied for bsc economics in presidency university, kolkata but was confused between pursuing btech and studing economics, but finally chose to do btech as it is more relevent course right now. The admission process ot my college is through wbjee(Management quota is also there but I don't know about management quota much) In the wbjee councelling, the cutoff for chemical department goes quite high. And also there are course available for lower ranks like food technology, biotechnology, agricultural engineering.
Faculty
The faculty to students ratio is quite although I don't know the exact number but there are enough teachers and yes they are very friendly and approachable. We can definitely ask them any doubts without hesitation and they are available till 6 in the evening, if we have any doubt we can surely go and ask. Exams happen all over the year, there are 2-3 class test and then there's the semester exam. The class tests are of 30 marks, 15 written and rest 15 for assignments attendence and all that. Also that rest 15 marks can be of surprises tests, it depends from subject to subject and teacher to teacher.
