Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum in amity university Mumbai was amazing. It was very intensive and in-depth and the knowledge I gained was immaculate! During internships I would notice that I had more knowledge than many seniorsnand masters students. Moreover, the subjects that they offered were really amazing and apt for becoming a clinical psychologist. It gave me a good base to build my career on in the future. One advice would be that they can evenly distribute the subjects because in a few semesters there were too many subjects and in others there weren't many so balancing that would be helpful and less stressful during exams. When talking about exams in every semester we would have mid-semester exams and end-semester exams. However, the weightage of the end sem exams would be too much 70% and we would have 3 hour long written exams which is too much. It could be reduced to 50 mark exams for 2 hours or equivalent
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
In my first year the fees was 52000 which then increased to 54000 and then finally 57000 over the 3 years. However, I had received a full scholarship for the 1st two years and a 50% scholarship in my final year hence I had to pay 57000 rupees for my last semester. In total the fees for the 3 years in Amity University for Bsc clinical psychology was close to 3.5 lakhs.
Campus Life
There are many fests that take place throughout the year which was very exciting for us students. The biggest fest is called aminova which is a 3 day event filled with exciting events like comedy, drama, dance, etc with special guests featuring these events. There are many clubs and societies as well one of which I was a part of which gave me a lot of to opportunities to become an event head, etc. the college also has a good range of facilities however the badminton area lacks a good court which can be very dangerous while playing.
Hostel Facilities
I lived in a hostel and it was very clean and nice. The walls could be repainted as some of it has chipped off. The canteen has a mix of good and bad food. Several times there were cockroaches found in the food so the hygiene is questionable, other than than the food is affordable and has a good range and some taste heavenly. The hostel is affordable but the prices increased every year and after a point it got expensive considering there were no changes made to the facilities.
Admission
I had applied to manipal university, nmims university and amity University. And I honestly I loved the subjects and the curriculum the best here in amity. Moreover, the course that I was interested in had just started in manipal and nmims university hence I wasn't sure about how the course would turn out and amity on the other hand had this course for over 5-6 years which gave me the confidence in the effectiveness of the course. I got accepted to manipal and because of some technical glitch during my entrance for nmims, I got rejected from there. Moreover, in amity there was no entrance exams, we just had to fill out the application form and submit a statement of purpose.
Faculty
Initially during my 1st and 2nd years, the student to faculty ratio was 66:1 respectively which was not bad however the teachers started leaving after every semester and till our 3rd year there were barely any teachers left so we would have one teacher teaching us 2 subjects or no teacher assigned for some subjects. The faculties were nevertheless very approachable and since I was the CR, I had a very good rapport with all the teachers there. There were a few teachers who I really liked, I would like not to name them because of confidentiality but one of them taught me life span development subject and the other taught me health psychology. Both of them made me fall in love with their subjects and they were so approachable and intellectual. I'm still in touch with them. There were few teachers I didn't like and I won't name them for confidentiality reasons, but I felt that these teachers weren't really experienced to teach an undergraduate course as many lacked communication skills.
