Course Curriculum Overview

5

the CBME based curriculum ensures that students focus more on practical knowledge than rote learning. there are adequate opportunities for us to interact with patients and see all sorts of medical cases, which provides a holistic opportunity to relate the theoretical knowledge with clinical scenarios. exams are conducted very systematically and the questions are actually framed very well based on their clinical importance. Difficulty level is determined finely after adequate considerations and allows the setting of distinction between students based on performance.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

MBBS graduates can pursue their internship of 1 year with clinical rotations within our hospitals (2 government, 2 private). there is adequate exposure and ample opportunities to discover their passion and select the course for PG/ Specialty.

Fees and Financial Aid

Basically, at the beginning of my medical course (2022), i paid 17,80,000/- as the tuition fees, 1,56,000/- as the hostel and mess fees, which included 10000/- caution deposit and 46,000/- as mess charges. the NRI category fees is around 40,00,000 per annum including everything, whereas the KEA category is likely around 10,00,000/- PA, (not sure of the exact numbers).

Campus Life

4

MAHE is very active regarding all aspects of student life. Annually there are multiple fests and events conducted, from the annual fest- UTSAV, to Ganesh Chaturthi, Holi, Onam etc. to sports events like Interclass competitions, Inter-MAHE events as well as regular competitions locally. cultural events are quite extensive in a similar fashion as well. all classrooms, labs, etc are equipped with state of the art technology and the sports arena is fabulous- with a highly equipped gym and courts of over 8-10 sports. student councils and clubs are encouraged as well, with over 6-8 highly functional groups containing members of all years as well as multiple scopes and encouragement for research.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

double seater room with 2 beds, 2 tables, 2 cupboards and 2 wall sections with attached washroom and a common slab/platform with basin. Quite spacious with good quality furniture and 24*7 carpenter, plumber, electrician. house-keeping is very proactive. meals are very good and have a variety with fixed menu.

Admission

i primarily chose and applied for KMC Mangalore because of the numerous opportunities they provide as well as their reputation. it was my first choice, the second being KMC Manipal. MAHE has a grand reputation in all their colleges and institutes, which reflects more than sufficiently in this college as well. NEET - UG exam is required to be eligible for this college, with the cutoff scores varying every year. there is also a KEA quota for Karnataka localites as well as a NRI quota. there are no SC/ST/OBC reservations, which in my opinion is great.

Faculty

4.5

the faculty to student ratio is pretty good and the professors really do ensure attention is being provided well. they are extremely student-friendly and approachable and promote the students to do research, co-curriculars and everything else along with studies. the curriculum is CBME based and the exams are conducted digitally. with repeated revision sessions and small group teachings, almost all students pass the exams very well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

curriculum is designed to be highly relevant and comprehensive for modern medical practice.Early Clinical Exposure is One of the strongest aspects of the curriculum is introducing students to patients in their very second year. The final year of the curriculum—the Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI) is effective it prepares students for the high-pressure environment of Indian healthcare, making them very capable of handling emergencies and outpatient departments (OPD ). Students feel that lectures are still too focused on passive PowerPoint presentations.Rigorous schedule, integrating "Life Skills" or "Stress Management" modules more formally into the foundation course would be helpful. The university exams (RGUHS) are generally fair but require a very high level of descriptive writing and practical precision.
