Course Curriculum Overview
I am studying physics and the curiculum is decently modern and advanced, however it is quite difficult. people interested in physics will find it quite rewarding to study this course. Teaching can be a lot better and less boring, more practical elements should be included so that the students attend more lectures. Regular announced tutorial tests around thrice to 4 times a month and midsem and endsems which are really hard
Internships Opportunities
BITS Pilani has strong industry connections, and students have access to internships at some of the top companies in India and globally. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Goldman Sachs, Qualcomm, Adobe, and Amazon regularly offer internship positions. Roles typically range from Software Engineer and Data Analyst to Product Manager and Consultant. HOWEVER you need a VERY HIGH CG (9+) to get a fighting chance into any of these, stipend is over 3 lakhs per month. On the core engineering side, companies like L&T, Tata Steel, and Schlumberger recruit interns for roles such as Mechanical Engineer, Civil Engineer, or Electrical Engineer. For those in finance and consulting, companies like JP Morgan, Deloitte, and BCG offer roles such as Financial Analyst and Consulting Intern which again needs a very high cg
Placement Experience
5th semester is the beginning of campus placement. Over 1000 companies visited and made over 3000 overs The highest package was around 80L and the average lies at 23L Of the students who sit for placements over 95% of them get placed, After my degree ill get into physics research.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees per semester is around 3.25 Lakhs including hostel fees. Merit cum need is available at yearly salary below 15 lakhs and the percentage of scholaship is based on your CGPA in the end of first year. There is NO caste based reservation whatsoever.
Campus Life
The fests are BOSM, OASIS and APOGEE, Bosm is sports, oasis is cultural and apogee is the technical fest. The BITS Pilani library is a treasure trove for knowledge seekers. It houses an extensive range of books, journals, and e-resources, covering everything from academic texts to leisure reading. For research, students have access to top-tier international journals, making it a great resource hub for both undergraduates and postgraduates. BITS Pilani thrives on its student-driven culture. Clubs like DEPP (Department of Photography), Celesta (Drama Club), and Wall Street Club (Finance) offer platforms for students to explore interests and passions outside of academics. There are also student portals like Arena, where students collaborate, share resources, and get updates on campus life. These groups not only add color to campus life but also provide leadership and team-building experiences that last a lifetime.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are quite subpar for the huge amount of money we pay for it , the menu is decent but the quality of food is very mid. The hostel mess costs 180 rs per day and is quite expensive , The room facilities at BITS Pilani are underwhelming. Despite its reputation, the hostel rooms feel quite basic and cramped, with minimal furniture—a bed, a study table, and a chair. Cleanliness is often an issue, and while each room is equipped with fans, the extreme heat during summer months makes them barely sufficient. The Wi-Fi is spotty, making it hard to work on assignments or stream lectures reliably. The food served in the mess is below average. While the menu tries to cater to different tastes, it often falls short in terms of quality and variety. Repetitive meals, oily food, and a lack of fresh vegetables make eating at the mess a chore. For those expecting good hygiene or a balanced diet, the food provided leaves much to be desired, and many students end up eating outside or
Admission
I applied to IITH and BITS and got accepted in both, i got rejected from the IITs because i didnt clear the chemistry cutoff in jee advanced by 1 mark. The main admission process for BITS is BITSAT, the admission experience is quite smooth and streamlined however there are some reported cases of cheating in gurgaon. I chose bits for its campus culture and the flexibility in attendance it provides
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 0.06. Approachability ranges from one to one, some are approachable while some dont answer mails and are adamant and stubborn. There are regular tutorial tests which are scorable but the midsem and endsems are extremely hard and the open books have no point even if you bring your books. I didnt like the bio department at all, they are very snobby and stubborn, i hate the professors in biology.
