What Students Say?
Likes
- Expertise of teachers, they are really profession and have the advanced knowledge about the subjects. Teachers are usually available to clear any kind of doubts.
- There are various events organised at small intervals, which are really helpful in holistic growth of a student and exposure is given through these.
Dislikes
- The cirriculum is vast and the course structure is very tiring
- There are Mid semester tests, plus assignments and vivas in one month which make it really exhausting for students towards the end of the semester where they are already burdened with the stress of final exams
Course Curriculum Overview
I was always into the field of law and the comprehensive curriculum deemed fit as per my expectations. The curriculum does prepare a person for a real word use and further academics as higher exams usually have this syllabus only. The only improvement course can have is less subjects per semester and more ways to evaluate students. The frequency of exams is after every 6 months. A person gets a time of 3 hours to finish a 80 marks paper which has 4 questions worth 15 marks each and 4 questions worth 5 marks each. The total pages given maximum are 32
Internships Opportunities
The companies or law firms like Khaitan and Khaitan and other big companies usually visit university for placements.the role they offer is of associate with the law firm. They take big projects like panels of different banks which give a nice exposure to a fresher
Placement Experience
The college usually gives placement in 9th semester. The law firms like Khaitan and Khaitan usually come for placements. The highest package i ever saw here was 10 Lakh rupees per anum and the lowest is 4 lakh rupees per annum. Around 80% of the students bag placements. My plans after defree include Judiciary and PP exam
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
So the fee every year is divided into 2 installments that is 60000 Rs per installment. Apart from this there is 10000 Rs to be paid yearly as director fund plus 250 as Library Charges. The fee doesn't tend to increase as much but there is nominal increase ot 2-3% every year. The students of reserved categories pay usually half of the fees aforementioned. There is no as such scholarship available but there are aids for students belonging to Economically weaker section.
Campus Life
The campus organises many fests including a law fest every year. Here students from different universities often take part. The university has NSS and NCC unit for students to take part in. Additionally there is a moot court society which prepares students for real life law practice. Also there are theatre, music, dance, etc societies for students to take part in as per their interest.
Admission
I applied to Christ and Symbiosis University and got accepted in both but since this was a government college and was near to my home i accepted the offer from Panjab University. The admissions process here inclused PU BA LLB CET entrance exam which is objective type and is of 100 marks with a 0.25 mark negative marking for every wrong answer.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:10. The student-teacher relationship is usually friendly and teachers are available to guide students at every step, they are pretty approachable without any hesitation. Pooja Sikka ma'am and Shalini Ma'am are two of my favourites because their teaching mechanism is wonderful and they are always standing to help their students out. Talking about the exam structure is that 20 marks are given internally by college faculties which are divided into 10+5+5 which are divided into Mid semester test, written projects and viva respectively. The final exams are for 80 marks which makes the total marks 20+80=100 for every subject. There are usually 6 subjects per semester. The exams are moderately difficult. Around 90% of the students usually clear all exams in one go. The curriculum and syllabus is relevant for a law student but the exam structure is a bit tiring and exhausting
