Course Curriculum Overview
I would really recommend taking diploma in engineering if you are locked in and sure you want to do engineering after 10th, as it covers half of the degree syllabus and isn't as hectic as giving entrance exams like sat and jee. They also don't have useless subjects and give a really good background about technical stuff from day 1.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
I have applied for international package in VP which offers 3 yr diploma in VP and 3 yr degree out of India. The overall fees for Diploma in Computer Engineering is 70,000(every year) and the excess fees for international package which includes visa accommodation etc was 1,20,000 (every year). I have taken admission from Institute quota so I cannot apply for Scholarship.
Campus Life
Annual and technical festivals aren't yet held in the college as its just opened for the year, but their events are usually well organised. The library has all the learning materials and books to help you cover the syllabus. They also let you complete books before/after lectures there. The facilities are really good, every PC works smoothly, every desk is clean and not damaged. The classrooms use a smart board instead of the traditional chalk and blackboard, and are fully Air conditioned. Sports and extracurricular activities are present to ease out the stress in students. There is a dedicated yoga period with compulsary attendance every week for 2 hours.
Admission
I applied to literally every top Polytechnic colleges in Mumbai. I had a confirmed admiiin Kala Vidyamandir, Malad but it's a really really bad college and its in the middle of nowhere. I chose VP over all colleges as it is the best polytechnic college in Mumbai. It has unmatched amenities. Even SBMP, Vile Parle which is triple the fees has lesser amenities. I got rejected from other colleges due to less marks in 10th grade. Saraswati Polytechnic, Kharghar offered a donation seat but we are very against this. The admission process is quite easy. We have to apply to it through CAP rounds which is a centralised admission process by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. They also have a facilitation centre built in to guide you through the process and verify documents. They also have an institute quota based on merit for admission. The cutoff is 85% but I have seen students with about 75-80% too in the college.
Faculty
The faculty is really considerate and friendly, they give proper instructions and are open to answer all doubts. They also take critisism very well. The portion isn't rushed and there are regular quiz and practicals taken to keep us hooked.
