Entrance Preview

I took Punjab Common Entrance Test and my rank was 4500. I choose this particular college because I wanted admission in CSE.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course Curriculum was good enough. We had following subjects 1st Semester- Engineering Chemistry, Engineering Mathematics , Engineering Mechanical Engineering.

Internships Opportunities

In this case, the college didn't provided any type of internship. This decreases student's faith in the institution.

Placement Experience

0.5

This is the worst part of this college. The Placement Cell is so poor that they didn't called and good company. At the time of admission they gave so much hope but all in vain. College did called few companies like HCL, IBM etc. After clearing all rounds, they said Congratulation! You are selected for the Post of CSE (Customer Service Executive). It was so annoying, just for the name of placement, they called BPO.

College Events

0.5

Youth festival only celebrated .

Fee Structure And Facilities

Here is the details of the fee structure (2007-2011)Semester 1 - 45000, Semester 2 - 35000, Semester 3 - 35000,Semester 4 - 35000, Semester 5 - 35000, Semester 6 - 35000, Semester 7 - 35000, Semecter 8 - 35000. Including all stationary, training charges the budget stands at Rs 3.5 lac. I belong to middle class family, thus this figure to me is little expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility is available. Though no scholarship were offered.

Exam Structure

Exam structure was good. We got 60 marks for theory and 40 for practicals.

Faculty

1.5

The faculty was not much good. Regarding qualification of subject teachers was only graduation, only few were holding master degrees. Even I experienced that our seniors started teaching us after passing out. Although the HOD's were holding double master

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
