Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I entered the college through CUET which took place for the 1st time in 2022 so the Course curriculum is totally based on NEP, we are the 1st NEP batch of DU so things were not as easy as they seem now. The courses were not as fruitful as they are now, the VAC, SEC were a total mess nobody knew what to do with these subjects they were a little hectic than our core subjects as 1st, we have more than 4 activities in these subjects along with tests, presentations, and viva with the theory paper. Now they have improved a lot but there is still a scope of change, in my opinion these subjects should be totally practical and not theory based and the classes of these subjects are also happen once in a week that too of 4 hours which becomes exhausting at the end of the day. Students are left with no time after college. The exams happen once in a semester but the class tests spans across the semester based on the faculty. These exams are pretty easy but lengthy.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The college offers interships from the DU and it has some of its own. The last internship I did was offered by the Education Ministry of the Government of India which was for 6 to 7 days only and it was pretty rare to be offered.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of Indraprastha college for women for the first year was 28000, for second year it was 20120 and for third year it was 20670 for the BAP course. The college initially lowered the fees but then increased it a bit. However they do not bifurcate the fee structure, they just provide portal with your personal details and the due fee. There are no provisions for reservations as such in this college everyone pays fees according to there course. The fees for Hons student is quite high around 30k to 37k.

Campus Life

2.5

The main festival of IPCW is called Shruti, which is a very vibrant festival but the other college students are not allowed in it, so it is pretty much ok. Library offers a varied variety of almost all the books necessary for the graduation for all the courses and it is a pretty big Library which can hold a lot of students as it has 3 floors and a lift too. The wifi is not so accessible all over the campus as our is very big in size and it has a lot of buildings. Otherwise the technology is very apt. ECA is very limited and not so autonomous and it is difficult to stick to 1 society. There are various social group for the needy students like the maitri society for the specially abled students, they help these students academically by helping them in their assignments and other works. The campus life is off as there are no other colleges beside ours the University is also 3 kms away.

Admission

My CUET score was 705/800 which was not so low back then, but my course preferences attracted a large base of students and I did not wanted campus life (which I regret now) so I chose this college. My 1st preference was LSR political science Hons. I could have got that college in a different course but I didn't compromise my course for the college. I always wanted to get into political science, history or economics so I got history and political science as a combination which I like. The cutoff for my course was around 680/800 and for the Hons courses it was around 720/800. The overall process was smooth and it was not a very bad experience.

Faculty

4

Faculties are enough for the strength of the college, students often have close relations with the teachers but not unofficially, they just talk academics in my opinion, there are various dedicated faculties to like for example Dr. Meenakshi Khanna from the History department, Dr. Ritvik from Political science etc (some faculties that I liked the most in my previous semesters left the college) The course structure of BAP is a little different from the hons courses as we have Language GEC in the 1st and 2nd year, rest is same like VAC, SEC, AEC, 3 DSCs in the 1st and 2nd Year. The 3rd year has different provisions like GEC can be any subject from the list, 3 DSCs and SEC also an additional elective subject from the core subjects is there so in total 6 subjects in 3rd year unlike 7 in 1st and 2nd year. Also the option for 4th year is also there which will provide an hons degree for the programme students if they do research based studies.
