Course Curriculum Overview
Chemical engineering is mostly based on physical chemistry, you learn about the chemical processes and how to optimise them and large scale manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products. So I think what I learnt was pretty relevant.
Internships Opportunities
Practice school 1 is compulsory for every student after the end of first year. I was sent to rourkela SAIL for my PS1. There I actually learnt about coke ovens and steel making process. And in the 4th PS 2 for a semester which is left for me.
Placement Experience
The placements are decent but not this year, due to recession it's tougher, I don't plan on getting a job immediately after college, I think I'll go for mastets and then get a job after that. It'll be better post masters.
Fees and Financial Aid
We need to pat fees at the beginning of the semester, it includes hostel fees and mess fee too. The fee increases every year. There is a different fee structure for international students. The fee also includes swd balance which is used for miscellaneous expenses on campus.
Campus Life
Waves, Quark and Spree are the cultural, tech and sports fest on the campus. Waves is the 3 rd best cultural fest in India. The clubs and departments and the fests all go hand in hand all the people in the organising committee work really hard to make it happen.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are decent, there's 4 bathrooms on every floor, no air conditioning. There are 4 meals in mess everyday you gotta pay separately for snacks in mess. The food in mess is below average but edible.
Admission
I got into nirma and almost completed a semester, but then I got a text that there are a couple more iterations, so I applied and got in. I chose BITS for exposure, and it also has a higher average placement CTC.
Faculty
The faculties are very approachable, you can go and ask them for whatever you need. The guide you through the process. College uses a relative grading system where grades are given on the basis of class averages.
