What Students Say
Likes
- The infrastructure of this university is quite good. Also talking about the fest and other events, there are numerous events conducted by the university, at both departmental level and university level.
- The university encourages the students to take parts in academic events especially moot courts, debates etc. This boosts the students confidence level.
- Encourage the students to do internships.
Dislikes
- Mostly professors are very unprofessional. They themselves are graduated from this university and do not possess the knowledge to teach the students.
- The fees structure is quite high. And they try to cut down the scholarships of students.
- The 75% attendance criteria is insane. They want students to get detained and pay 10,000 to sit in the exam hall. Moreover every student have to be in university till 5 pm. And they can not do anything afterwords nor internships.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course syllabus is good and they teach the students fron the basic to the advanced level of law subjects. This course is best designed but the teachers have to make it quick, because within a month, there comes a time of next MST. Students do not get the chance of actually learning.
Internships Opportunities
As I am in the first year, we were told to do internships of your own. No company offered any role to the students. Many students did internships under any lawyer working in a district or high court. As for me, I did my first internship in a district court.
Placement Experience
The placement is almost negligible in law department. Around 25-30 students get places every batch and thats from all law department. Bcom llb, bba llb, ba llb, llb. The placement record is false in the website, as this university is a private one they mostly focus on getting profit and luring as many students as they can to get admission here.
Fees and Financial Aid
During the previous session(2023), when I took admission, the fees of bcom llb was 81000 per semester. However, it has been increased to around 90,000 in this year. Talking about scholarships, yes Chandigarh University do provide scholarships based on the entrance test they conduct, CUCET. The difficulty level of this exam is easy to moderate and you can get upto 100% of scholarships. To maintain the scholarship, students have to maintain their cgpa above 7.5.
Campus Life
As I have mentioned before, the infrastructure is jo doubt the best thing you can get from this university. Also there is a shop in every corner where you can buy food. Many clubs are opened in the department level itself. Fron example: we have three clubs. Abc club for dancing and other activities. Soch club for research writing and one more about poetry debates etc.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees is around 1,20,000 per annum. And my hostel is LC, which is 4 seater room. You will get chair, bed and an almirah of your own and a combined table with one more rommate. AC is not in any room, except for the international students. Cooler will be provided and I think this is sufficient. The mess food is also good. If you will live far from your home first time, you will not have any difficulty here, considering the quality of the food. Many PG options are also available around the college.
Admission
Firstly, the integrated course of law is not very accessible within the local area. I applied to panjab university but got ludhiana campus. As I have heard it is no better than any private institutions, I took admission in Chandigarh University. I would consider this as a mistake, because teaching here is only from ppts and they do not even suggest the students books. Also there is not eligibility requirement to get into this university to be honest. You just have to pay the fees and get admission. The cucet is basically to get scholarships which would not even last longer.
Faculty
The teachers are unprofessional and they lack the knowledge themselves. How would they teach the students the concept if they don't know it themselves? You cannot expect to get a real knowledge if you enter this university. Do not expect anything from the faculty members.
