What Students Say

Likes

Campus is friendly, has greenery, we have a nice playground.
The faculty for English department is very helpful with excellent teachers.
The canteen is nice with good food for the students.

Dislikes

Infrastructure is old and the college is lethargic about it.
Classrooms need restoration. The washrooms need to be improved as well.
The buildings are quite old and dusty and needs cleaning

Course Curriculum Overview

I personally liked English from the very beginning and this led me to choose this course overall. Our college even provides with programme for Masters in English for further curricular achievements. The teaching methods of the teachers are friendly but good. Exams are conducted after the completion of syllabus in every semester.

Class Size: 65Course Fees: INR 2000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees in our college is mostly around 2000 rupees for English Honours course. Registration fees for the university is around 450 for every semester. I got aided by Vivekananda scholarship which is provided to the students with percentage above 50%.

Campus Life

We had a Fest in our college last year in 2023 where Anupam Roy renouned singer and his band was invited to perform. We have quite a big library and students with library cards have access to the books in the library. Sports like football, cricket, table tennis, carrom are entertained in our college.

Admission

I applied for Scottish Church College and other colleges under Calcutta University but circumstances led me to choose Dum Dum motijheel College. Admission in our college is merit based and on the percentage acquired in 12th.

Faculty

Every subject has a different faculty. The department heads are responsible to the students of every department. Exams in the college are conducted well and are not too difficult. The HOD of our English department Mr. Soaham is an excellent guide for the students of the English department.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
