What Students Say
Likes
- They had many clubs and activities coming up during the final year. This included functions, seminars and workshops.
- Once you find your circle, campus life will be really fun. Everyone are friendly
- The class ends by 1:30pm which is the best thing so you have enough time to study after or hangout with your friends.
Dislikes
- It is strict in usage of phones which is unnecessary
- Strict about uniform in campus. Dress code for functions can also be strict
- Teaching methods could be improved if the teacher's we're assigned a subject of their expertise.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is a triple main course which was interesting because it offered English literature along with communication and journalism. It provides a wide world of choices for the future pursuits. The teaching methods would be improved if the subjects were according to the teacher's expertise. Overall they provide us with all the necessary information and prepare us well for the exams. The exams are fine. It is only difficult if you don't study so overall it relies on us.
Internships Opportunities
We had to do an internship for a month in any paper or media company which was part of our final semester. There were many companies that offered a role. If you get into a newspaper company, they would allow you to publish your own blogs and bylines. It is a good opportunity to learn and explore your interests.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees is around 9000-25000. There are options of scholarship although I didn't apply for any. Each semester fee is 9000. The caution fees was 100,000 which was received a month after graduation. There are no extra charges other than examination fees, which differs. The scholarship application is available and is selected through review of submitted applications by scholarship committee.
Campus Life
There are annual functions like Onam and Christmas. They also celebrate freshers day and farewell. Onam is the most fun and happening function, there is a small function with your classmates and a big one with everyone in the college. They conduct batch wise tug of war which is really fun. Christmas is a very small function as there is nothing more than some carols and band performances. The library has a wide range of books to select from, classics to modern literature, they provide magazines and course related books as well. Sports and extra curricular activities are available but not very serious. Each club gets a week or two (of you're lucky) to plan and execute a performance before an event. Sport competitions take place and students themselves have to find a group, select and practice. It would be better if a sportsteacher would take these events seriously and guide through. There are many clubs, all of which give students the freedom to run them.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed at the hostel called mom's care which is near the college itself. The food there was good most of the time although quantity wise, I would still be hungry after eating. The curfew for most hostels are around 6 or 7pm. Out of all the hostels I have heard about, mom's care would be the best considering safety and privacy. Hostels nearby are affordable but I would recommend getting a PG or renting a room. There are many apartments nearby, jewel homes, sun paul, all of which provide affordable, safe and fun living space for you and your friends.
Admission
I chose this college as they provided a triple major giving me more opportunities to learn more about not just literature but also communications and journalism. The admission process was simple and once you were selected they would conduct an interview where they ask questions to know if you are eligible for the course. The eligibility for the course is to have minimum 60% marks in English and optional subjects in grade 12.
Faculty
Everyone are approachable and nice whether faculty or students. Each year has two semesters. There are 6 semesters and there is a main exam at the end of every semester. There are two internal exams during each semester before the main exam. Not many students fail in our batch, the teachers' guide you very well.
