- It was such a big campus in psgcas with an peaceful environment. They always had place for art and creativity(clubs) and that made me more humane.
- The faculties were all experienced and over all had good teaching methods. They had face prep training for placement classes, which is a compulsory component.
Dislikes
- The lab facilities could have been a little better with more of latest equipments.
- The restrooms were very far away from a few departments, which made some days difficult.
- The events that take place with such a big crowd always make a mess at the end.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum was well built and had covered all the basics. The credit system was rich and at the end of the degree i had around 121 points as my credit, which a good number. It teaches you the method and it's application in the lab or field, which makes it easier to compare and study. The curriculum could also include few field trips or activities to make it even more interesting. The timings of the exams are flexible and it's mostly a half day.
Placement Experience
In the final year of the degree, students can either option for placements or higher studies. They have various training programs and companies visiting them every year. Some of the companies visited were Accenture, Deloitte, face prep etc.. and they offered the most basic packages. The highest would be around Rs.5L and the lowest around Rs.2L to 3L per year. Yearly around 10% of students option for placement opportunities. I'm planning on doing higher studies further.
Fees and Financial Aid
I did my UG level degree in PSG College of Arts and Science. My specialization was in Biotechnology (Self-financed). I got my admission through merit. Its always better to maintain a percentage of around or above 85% in your board exams for an easy flow of admission. As my department was only under Self-financed, I had to pay a total fee of Rs.40,000 per semester i.e., Rs.80,000 per year. It kept reducing each semester. The fee structure for the Self-financed departments are more or less the same. When it comes to aided departments, it's much lesser.
Campus Life
The most celebrated events in our college were Heartbeat, euphoria for self-financed and cas call for aided students that happen in the March and October every year. The campus has a big library and an e-library and had various departments of books covered in it. Its mandatory to have atleast 10 hours of library time every semester. Classrooms are equipped with smart boards and it is well ventilated. The campus also has a basketball court and a ground were NCC camps all go on. They are various club activities in the college. Its so much fun to be in the clubs and participate in many events happening outside. They are also other eco clubs and entrepreneurship club handles for sustainability and innovation.
Admission
I also had applied to Krishnammal college in Coimbatore. I got it there and I almost paid the fees, but then later, i wanted the exposure of co-education, so I chose PSGCAS. I applied online and it had an application fee of 200 and the relevant documents were all submited. They expect us to maintain a percentage if above 80.
Faculty
The faculties are friendly actually. They seem a bit strict at first, but then at last they really guided us. The teachers are open to doubts, both on and off campus and they also help you with any research or other works related to the subject. I have a few favourite teachers and not many teachers I hate, but I don't want to mention them here. Faculties are very polite and they put an effort to teach the subject to its vast. Some teachersihht be ppt reader but not all of them. There'll be two internals and final exam each semester. Different courses have different credit points which adds up together. Our batch had no arrears.
Other Applied Colleges
PSG Institute of Management - [PSGIM] | Master of Business Administration [MBA]
I applied to the same college but to a different campus affiliated to Anna University.
