Likes

The campus is lush green. The environment is good as it is in Himachal.
There are only limited number of students in the campus, which helps in times of placement.
The campus is very green and clean. Proper sanitation facilities are provided.

Dislikes

The quality of mess food is not much good.
The ventilation in Bose hostel is very poor.
Some faculty are not so good teachers, even if they have knowledge of the subject, there are not able to convey it.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course is well structured, we have subjects according to industry requirements. There are subjects on Frontend, backend, data structures and various programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities on campus are available as well. Companies visit the campus in second and third year for hiring students. There are paid opportunities available as well. A lot companies directly hire the students after internships.

Placement Experience

The placement facilities offered here are much better to its competitors. The average package is 6-7 lakhs per annum. Several companies visit the campus during placement season. Most of the students are placed in the first few days itself.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee for each semester is 70000 Rs. It remains same for the whole four years. There is no scholarship here. The hostel fees is 33000 for Aryabhatta hostel. For sarabhai hostel which includes AC, it is approx. 50000/-

Campus Life

The campus life is very nice. There are numerous technical fests and DJ nights. There are all kinds of books available in library which can be issued very easily to students. There are tech clubs in the campus as well, including IEEE, ACM, GDSC, etc.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel fees is 33000 for Aryabhatta hostel and Bose hostel. There is laundry facility, mess facility available and cooler available. For Sarabhai hostel, the fees is 50000 rs. It also includes AC room facility.

Admission

The admission process is very simple. There is a councelling session held in Chitkara School, Chandigarh. The criteria is to have atleast sixty percent in 12th boards exam. JEE exam is not at all required.

Faculty

The faculty is mostly good, but, some professors are not able to convey the information they have on the subject. We even have a mentor for each section. There are three sessionals and one end term exam. The course is mostly inclined with industry requirements.

Placement Experience:

At NIT Hamirpur, students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester onwards, and the placement scenario has been quite encouraging in recent years. A wide range of companies such as Infosys, Wipro, L\&T, Capgemini, Tata Projects, and several core as well as IT firms visit the campus every year. The highest placement touched an impressive 2.05 crore offered to a mechanical engineering student, while the overall average package stands at around 10.5 LPA, which is a strong figure compared to many other NITs. The placement percentage remains high, with a majority of students securing offers, especially in branches like CSE, IT, and ECE, though core branches like civil and mechanical also receive good opportunities. The profiles offered include roles in software development, consulting, design, project engineering, and research. After completing my degree, I plan to take advantage of these placement opportunities to gain solid industry experience and later decide whether to pursue higher studies or competitive exams for broader career growth.
