Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose psychology because it was what influenced me. Because in a country like India people are not much aware about psychology and mental health. The curriculum provides pretty nice education and information regarding the subject. But i have no idea regarding the placements. I think that they barely provide any kind of placements which is very frustrating because the students compete very hard to get into a college like fergusson. When we are givibg exams, i feel like the time span should be a little expanded as psychology is a very lengthy paper.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is very reasonable in college as it is a government college. They also do provide scholarships to the grant in aid students which is nice. But they don't provide any job roles or responsibilities, and so neither does anyone get any stipend.

Campus Life

3.5

Events do take place like psy-fy, vividha, saathi and many others. This is a student led event so students are responsible for every little event that happens in the campus. This college is full of social events and festivals. The classrooms are very old and are not much accessible to the students. The college does provide a nice curriculum for the students who want to play various sports. Various types of courts for different sports are available.

Admission

To apply into fergusson, different subjects have different cut offs. As i took psychology, i remember the cut off for psychology was 90%. It also depends on your extra curricular activities and whether you're an international student. You can find the application form on google very easily. Search fergusson college admission form and the website is available on the internet. The reservation system does exist in the college. I have seen students who are under reservation with 60-70% get in where as open students struggling to get in even with 90%.

Faculty

3.5

There are basically 2 lecturers for psychology. One teaches us about psychological testing and the other about abnormal psychology. The first teacher is excellent in teaching. He knows how to explain difficult things very easily and keeps the class interesting. Never had a better teacher than him. The other lecturer also teaches well. Although Her teaching skills are nice she seems a little bit biased with students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
