Course Curriculum Overview
What made me decide to choose this professional education is the end goal being becoming a qualified medical practitioner. This field of becoming a doctor has always intrigued and fascinated me. How one could evaluate the human body, learning about the things that happen inside our body, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, forensic medicine and toxicology, community medicine, pediatrics, obs and gynaecology, surgery and medicine will always make me curious about LIFE! Moreover, if I were to suggest any improvement in the teaching field, it would be, the use of olden days chalk and board, learning the concepts more from exposure and in the field rather than the routine digital class experience. Technology is good but deep rooted understanding of matter seems more important in my opinion. Exams are rather frequent: monthly test is always there, 1st and 2nd internal exams, pre final and professional/uni exams/ Year. Difficulty level is a 10/10.
Internships Opportunities
Since my college is in it's budding stage my batch being the 1st, our internship will happen in the coming 2 years from now . Being a medical professional course, it is mandatory to do internship to get the degree. So everyone in my batch has the opportunity to do internship as arranged by our college. We will most likely be doing internship in 3 different places , including 2 district hospitals located within the state.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my 1st professional year, tuition fee was Rs 45,000 excluding hostel fees. Which is quite a lot considering my college is under the state government. In my current 2nd professional year it was Rs 27,000. The complete course would cost me around 1,50,000 Rs. There is no financial aid so far, my parents are not well off but they're managing to pay for my tuition fee as of now. I haven't taken any campus employment opportunity but I'll make sure to join one if there is.
Campus Life
Campus Life is ok. We get to enjoy ourselves once in a while. Like Fresher's meet, annual day, Teacher's day etc. This year we had celebrated NEOFEST , organised by the 2nd year students, it was a fun experience. Sports is also held but not very frequently or officially. It is usually organised among groups of students. Yoga and Physical education is also there. Although it is a "Health care" education, rarely the students are healthy, because of the amount of academic stress, a good night's sleep is hard to achieve for this students. For my college, we have a student association of 17 members, it is only in it's budding stage. Regular vlogs and updates of the college and campus Life are updated in anonymous held social media accounts, that act as archive diaries.
Admission
Since, my college is a medical college, admission was done through selection according to merit list released by the Directorate of health services, Manipur. On councelling day, those who are eligible and available has the opportunity to chose the college according to the order in the merit list. On the same day, admission slip is given and admission can be done starting onwards within a limited time period. Requirements are basic like the class 10 and 12 certificates, Health report, provisional certificates etc. Yes, there is a cut off for every college. Reservation benifit is there, at my time, around 48 seats were reserved for ST category alone, around 20 seats for OBC and around 10 for SC category, 2 for people with disabilities, 1 for Sports , around 3 for OBC(MP), 1 for another OBC(T) and the rest were general seats . The NEET UG exam takes place only once in a year, overall the questions are not very difficult as such, but you'll be attempting 180 questions under 3 hours.
Faculty
The facility to student ratio is around 7:50 which is not bad considering, we usually divide the students into groups of three for best learning experience. The faculties are qualified medical professionals with an enthusiastic outlook to teaching and learning. Interaction among the facilities and students is quite often , 4-5/ faculty/ week. There's an additional mentor mentee program that allows more interaction among the mentor and a small group of students to help discuss matters that's beyond academics, with an ultimate goal for achieving the best level of educational, moral support and life advices that will be deemed useful for future careers.
