Civil engineering curriculum consists of core subjects such as Geotechnical engineering , Structural Analysis, Transportation Engineering, Construction technology and management. The curriculum prepares us for real world by teaching us softwares like Staad pro, Auto cad etc. The exams are held timely. In a year there are two mid sems and 2 end sems.

Placement Experience

Almost all the students of NIT Jamshedpur are placed irrespective of their branch. Coming to Civil branch the placement percentage is above 95 percent. And the average package is around 9 lpa. So in terms of placement NIT Jamshedpur is among one of the best NITs of India.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee is around 125000 per year. Hostel fees is about 30000 per year. Mess fees about 34000 per year. And there are some other fees too. Including all the fees it is about 220000 per year. The students who have family income less than 1 lakh gets two-third fee remission on tuition fees. And students with family income between 1 to 5 lakh gets one-third fee remission on tuition fees.

Campus Life

There are a lot of fests held in the college throughout the year including the technical fest Ojass, Sports fest Urja, Cultural fest Culfest. Vidhaan is the branch fest of Civil Engineering in Nit jamshedpur. There are alot of clubs where student get opportunities for their overall development

Hostel Facilities

In the first year we get a two seater room. From the second year we get single rooms with a almirah, a table , a chair, a bed and a beautiful balcony. Hostel fees is about 30000 per year. Each hostel also has its mess. Food in the mess is ok. Mess fees is around 34000 per year

Admission

To get admission in Btech civil of NIT Jamshedpur one has to clear JEE Mains with good rank. With current trend if your AIR is less than 40000(general category) you can get into Civil branch of nit jamshedpur.

All facilities here are PhD holders and they are expert in their respective fields. Many of them have 30+ years of teaching experience . They are very supportive and always ready to help students in the best possible way.

Students are eligible to sit for placements from the 7th semester.A variety of companies including TATA Steel, JSL, JPL, Samsung, TCS and ABG visit the campus.The highest package offered is to Mining branch by vedanta which is 16.5 lpa.In core branches like mechanical and electrical the placement percentage reaches to almost 80%.

Remarks:

Outstanding faculties having a good depth of knowledge.. Well interactive. Ideas and Knowledge is easily projected by them. They follow a stringent standards while conducting experiment, viva-voice in labs. Their teaching style and attitude is good and generally the language of interaction between student and faculty is English. So in a nutshell the faculty is up to the mark and satisfactory.
