Remarks

College is the greenest campus in India. You'd be living a luxurious life here. You can choose to study or have fun, it's your wish. You're independent.

Entrance Preview

My Jee mains rank was 12877. I wanted to opt for either computer science or information technology as I loved coding. I wanted to move to a place where the culture is completely different from what I've seen. I wanted to move to a place where I'd not use my mother tongue much so that I could improve my English speaking skills. I wanted to join a college which was liberal in rules. A college where I could even improve my extracurricular activities. I did not want to study chemistry again. Upon all these, the placement must be the best among the options I had. After all these conditions, IIITM Gwalior is the best option for a South Indian with a rank range 7000 - 20000.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course is well prepared and the details are available on the IIITM website. There is no chemistry taught at all as it is not much of a useful subject to students. But the problem is that the course is unstable. Every academic year the course for the same class changes. This is bad in most of the cases.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, college does offer internship but most of the students get one from outside through intern shall or similar services.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are very good. The average package for an integrated postgraduate MTech student is around 10 lakhs per annum. The highest package goes up to 38 lakhs per annum. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon also recruits from here. But the better packages are from of campus.

College Events

3.5

It is growing each year with respect to these attributes. The main events are Nojoto Open Mic, TEDx talk, IEEE meeting. 2 sports fests are held - twaran and urja. Urja is intra college while Twaran is intercollegiate. 2 techno-managerial fests are held - Mom and Infotsav. 1 cultural fest - aurora.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For a general category student, the fees are 79000 per semester including hostel, tuition, mess and the facilities college provides. You cannot opt to be a day scholar. The hostel is mandatory. It is cheaper than private colleges for sure and is worth the money. SC/ST category students don't pay tuition fees, they only pay for hostel and mess.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facilities and scholarships are available to SC/ST students. Apart from these mcm scholarships are available to good rank holders.

Campus Life

3

There are no restrictions on how you'd want to live if you're a guy. You can come and go out any time you want to. Girls have to be in their hostel by 10:30 pm. The gender ratio is bad 8:1. There is diversity in culture as it is a national institute and there is no reservation to home state students. There journalism, coding, developers, Rotaract, teaching clubs.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel provides all the basic facilities. There are water coolers cum filters available on each floor. Geyser and showers are available in all bathrooms. Any problem and it easily gets solved after a complaint to the Warden. No one interferes in your life. Mess food is fit to eat but is not very tasty. Chicken is not available. South Indian, as well as North Indian food, would be available.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are easily available and helpful as we live in the same hostel. There is no ragging. Alumni networks are very active.

Exam Structure

It is credit based. 21 credits per semester. There would be 6 subjects in a sem. 100 marks per subject. 20+20(=40) in 2 Minors conducted, 40 through a male exam and the remaining 20 is for either internal assessment or lab performance. Sometimes the lab is also considered a different subject.

Admission

After Jee Mains result was declared I signed up for option entry on JOSAA website. I filled in my basic details and completed option filling. Later I was allotted this college in the first round. I went to NITK Surathkal which was then my nearest josaa center and got my seat frozen. During admission, I went to IIITM with both the original as well as the photocopy of my identity and study proof submitted it, paid my hostel and college fee. This is the total admission procedure.

Faculty

3

All the faculties are PhDs. They are all knowledgeable. But teaching wise very few of them are very good. Most of the classes are boring. Some faculties send the Ph.D. students to teach most of the time who are more friendly and sometimes a better teacher too.

Placement Experience:

Placement at SKITM are decent and improving year by year . Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester. Reputed companies like TCS,wipro , Infosys and some emerging firms visit the campus. The averages package is around 3-4 LPA ,while the higher goes upto 6-7 LPA in some cases . Around 60% students get placed , especially those who have good technical skills and communication skills. The college also provide basic training and guidance for placements, which helps students prepare for interview The college provide some support, but it is not enough for high - paying jobs, so students need to prepare on their own.

Placement Experience:

Placements in my college are very good in one sense but okayish in some other. Many companies visit the college but only some of them are good and if one loses opportunity in some top companies, then only low paying companies remain. Students become eligible for college placements after 6 semester. Some top companies visiting for placements include, Goldman Sachs, Databricks, Google, Zomato, Amazon, etc. All of the students in my branch have received their offers except one or two, who will receive it eventually. Highest package this year is 1.04Cr INR and average would fall around 30L INR. Percentage of students getting placed in my branch is around always 100%. My plans after a degree is to work in industry offered to me by my placements, but even if I don't get on campus placement, I would be seeking out off campus placements and I am positive, I'll be in good place.

Placement Experience:

From the 4th semester student can apply for internships and for placement student should be in 5th semester of his or her college life. There's very difficulties in getting placed by the company because few of the company comes to college and very fewer gets placed. So student must develop the skills on their own and apply for off campus selection. More than 8.5 cgpa for average package and more than 9 cgpa is required for a good company... I'm planning to give upsc exams after graduation
