SMIT Sikkim - An honest review

Since my sibling also studied from here so that's why I decided to do the same. The thing that I liked about the curriculum is teacher to students ratio that's it The curriculum will not prepare one for real world jobs. One have to put extra time and efforts to skiil up Curriculum must be changed according to new technologies. Exam conducts at the interval of 1-1.5 months

There were couple of companies which provided internship like dell, Salesforce, State Street, Ey, Pwc etc. The stipend ranged from 6 lpa to 10 lpa. The jobs that they got were related to cybersecurity, web development etc

The campus placement is very poor only 20 to 25% student got placed. The company that visited will take an average of 5 to 6 students. The highest package that was provided in this year was 12 lpa and the lowest was 3 lpa. Some of the companies that visited are Microsoft, Dell, EY, PWC, elewayte etc

Every year the fees increases by 15 to 20% and it also includes the hostal and mess fees. Approx 20 lakhs is what I paid including all of the expenses for the completion of course The scholarships that are available are - The people of Nepal Bangladesh and Sikkim will get scholarship of 20% every year. Students who have completed diploma and want lateral entry admission can get a scholarship according to their diploma marks. There is no reservation based cholarship except for the locals and people from Nepal and Bangladesh

College fest that occurs once a year in March is Kaalrav where there are dj, comedians, singers are invited it is a 3 day program Tech fest named as tech adrishta that happens between July to September. Then there are regional and non regional holidays celebration as well like, bihu, holi, diwali, halloween etc. Also prom night is good as well ;) For Library there are sufficient number of books you can find and there is a reading hall as well. For extra curricular and sports there is a football ground, gym, swimming pool, table tennis, badminton, cricket ground, basketball ground, pool table etc There are multiple clubs like acting ub, singing club, dancing club etc

The hostel room is okayish with attached bathroom, there is electricity and running water but it's not available all the time. There are few incidents where the electricity had gone or water is gone. Meal of mess is worst. It's not consumable by human. For hostel registration, one have to fill the form and pay the fee and then that person will be assigned with a room There are 4 hostels. Hostel 1 is for seniors of Btech (2nd yr amd above) Hostel 2 is for 1st year btech students and students of other courses. Hostel 3 is for Girls and hostel 4 is for guests.

For the admission the college will take an entrance exam and according to the mark that the student have scored the marks will decide the branch of the student. There are no reservation benefits the exam is conducted once every year

The faculty to student ratio atleast in my department is very good. Couple of faculties teaching methods are vey commendable rest of them teaches very averagely. One can interact with teachers at any given working hours
