Course Curriculum Overview

3

The courses here are rigorous. The courses structure I feel is not well designed. In the very first semester we have C programming as a subject which puts a lot of pressure on the students who are new to programming.

Internships Opportunities

2

There are no internship opportunities in the college. Students are left on their to find an internship. The placement cell is inefficient. Third year students generally struggle to find an internship. Many opportunities go unnoticed due to inefficient placement cell.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students are eligible for placement from 7th semester. The placement of the college are average. It was great last year. But this time around 45% students are unplaced. Some major companies visiting are Tekion, versa networks.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee is 125000 per semester. There is no scholarship provided by the college. But there are private scholarships which any students can avail. The complete cost for the 4 year course would come approximately to 1200000.

Campus Life

2.5

The annual tech fest is Entropy. And cultural fest is yuvaan. Both are below par fests. There are no sponsorship whatsoever. Every one just endlessly dances on the dj. The college does not allocate budget for the fests.

Hostel Facilities

4

There are two types of rooms: single and double seater. Single seater are allocated only to mtech and PhD students. Double seater rooms are allocated to the btech students. Washroom are attached with each room. Cleaning staff comes once in every week.

Admission

Admissions are based on JEE mains score. Seats are reserved for OBC, SC, ST and female student. The admission process starts after the seat has been allotted. The first step is to report to the college and complete the formalities. Hostel rooms are allocated on that day itself.

Faculty

3.5

Some of the faculties are highly experienced. They teach very nicely. Some of them are just inexperienced. They do not explain the concepts clearly. The faculties here are approachable. Doubts are encouraged and solved during the lectures.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not really good in our college, it is more of a research institute so it mainly focuses on PhD as PhD strength is good. Higher education is more prefered here but placement scenario is also good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very relevant and is different for different branches according to their needs. I was interested in civil engineering and chose the course and find the curriculum intersting and relevant for me . The curriculum offers subject which are important for real world applications, like in civil engineering it's offers subjects like building construction, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, material testing, serving, etc. The course curriculum is very good but the teaching methods needs improvement like more digitalization . The exams frequency and timings are neither too late nor too early, they are perfectly planned and executed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There exists a good teaching staff that's why the course is very easy to understand also teachers give us good examples also do practicals so that's students understand the course easily . I see that there exist a low no of equipments in practical lab compare to it's students ratio so if they have a good no of equipments then all students get equipment to do experiment without any waste of time . Time is good as compare to marks and the first 30 marks are beginner level the other 40 marks are intermediate level and the remaining 30 Marks are advanced level questions in a question paper for the students they published.

I choosed because my CEE marks which was 92 at that time was not enough to get admission in govt engineering colleges and the OBC cut off was 120+. So, in Whole northeast Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology is the no 1 and the oldest private engineering college and I decided to take admission there.

Placement Experience:

The placement scenario is quite good, with several reputed companies like General Electric, Power Grid Corporation of India, Goldman Sachs, among others recruiting 94 percent of the students in the college. The placement takes place in three rounds, one testing one's aptitude, followed by an hour round, finally leading on to a technical round. Mock interview and job cracking sessions are organized regularly, both by the departments, and also the Training and Placement Cell, to prepare students for the interviews and examinations going forward. The Training and Placement Cell also provides internship opportunities at the end of third year for the students, based on their aptitude and abilities

Remarks:

I have mostly positive remarks about college except for the fact that the college is situated really far from mainstream north India. Train connectivity is not that strong to rest of country. But despite that the college is extremely good in the sense of learning, meeting new innovative minds, and of course placements and jobs.
