What Students Say
Likes
- Secondly, ragging is totally prohibited.
- Thirdly, Aiims faculty. We not only learn about our syllabus but also develop our personality with a positive attitude.
Dislikes
- Schedule is very hectic as our classes start from 7:30am and get over at 5pm
- Mess fee has to be paid all the time(excluding summer and winter vacations) even if we r not present in hostel during that time.
- Hostel is compulsory for all, which maybe a good point for some but not for a Delhiite like me.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is fine but I sometimes felt it irrelevant to study about subjects like anatomy and physiology etc in detail which isn't much helpful for us( nursing officers) in practical. Although curriculum covered also teach about real world applications. We have started going to ward from second month of first year itself which help us gain good practical knowledge. For me I felt, exams difficult level is average.
Internships Opportunities
The internship is included in th 4-year course. After 3.5 years, we have a six month internship in Aiims, Delhi hospital itself in which we get a pay of around Rs13000. Internship includes morning, evening and night shifts in which the student needs to take complete responsibility of a patient and also assist nursing officers.
Fees and Financial Aid
Registration fees= Rs 25 Tution fees= Rs 600 Pot money= Rs 960 Hostel rent= Rs 480 Hostel security= Rs 1000(refundable) Caution money= Rs 100 Total == Rs 3165 In addition to that, we need a mees fee of Rs 3000 per month. Stipend which we get is Rs 500 per month and 6 month internship at end of course will pay us around Rs13.000.
Campus Life
Campus Life is good. There are many societies one can be a part of including dance, music, art and craft, educational sports etc. The fest we have is PULSE, which is one of the biggest fest which welcomes great celebrities. Sports day is celebrated annually at JLN auditorium. Library is one of the best place where we get variety of books and free wifi.
Hostel Facilities
In room, we get a dressing table, mirror, study table and chair, a book rack, almirah, bed(without mattress). A pantry, balcony and attached washroom is also there in 2-seater rooms. Depending on luck, some get 2,3 or 4-seater rooms in first year while single to 2-seater from second year onwards. Mess food includes breakfast, lunch, tea in evening and dinner.
Admission
Eligibilty for the course is clearing the entrance exam i.e. Aiims B.sc(hons.) nursing entrance examination. Students can appear in exam after 12th standard. All the details of exam is available on official website i.e. aiimsexams.ac.in. difficulty level was average but less than the level of NEET and syllabus includes physics, chemistry, biology and general awareness.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is a fine one. Although 100 students in a class seemed very high strength in beginning but faculty is good enough to solve everyone's doubts and teach properly. Moreover I liked the thing that faculty is very punctual and our classes are not cancelled very often. I would say faculty isn't like school where our school teachers compelled every student to study but here faculty teaches with interest only to those students who want to study.
Other Applied Colleges
Delhi University - [DU] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Zoology)
I didn't go for B.sc botany coz B.sc nursing provided me better job opportunities and that too with a good pay, so I felt my future was more secure if u chose nursing. Also, I was getting my dream clg, so it was best choice for me
