My journey in FISAT

Dislikes

  • The pricing system in canteens. Half biriyani was Rs 35 when i was in my 1st semester. But it increased to Rs 60 when I was in my 6th semester. Not just this. Many other food item's price increased ridiculously and quantity decreased.
  • Hostel food. The quality was too bad. There has been an incident when almost 80% people of our hostel fell ill and still they took an action only after 2 days or more, because they refused to accept that it was the hostel mess's food responsible.

Course Curriculum Overview :

A semester, especially even semesters are short where the faculty rushes to complete the portion and side by side we have 2 assignments, 2 internals, seminars at times. It becomes really hectic. Mostly, 2 subject internals are conducted per day which makes it really difficult. Our sessional marks also decrease very well. The curriculum doesn't impart any practical knowledge. Only theoretical. Practicals are also performed in adjustment basis. Doesn't contribute much to a person's educational growth.

Placement Experience :

Placements were good, till 2023 pass out batch. But our batch didn't get much companies coming in our campus. Mass recruiting companies like TCS who used to come 5th or 6th sem started coming by 7th and 8th sems. Even the eligibility criteria for certain companies who used to allow certain number of backlogs and no cgpa cut off/ cgpa cut off above 6 started coming with their eligibility criteria being no backlogs and cgpa above 7 or 8. It was really very competitive. Even the circuit branches required to have high knowledge in coding languages. And mostly the companies which came were those with the positions for either sales or call centre agents.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There are 3 seats: Government, Management and NRI. For the 1st two seats, we need to qualify KEAM( entrance exam) NRI quota is purely based on money. It ranges between 2-2.5 lakhs. Government seat is when you get a good rank for KEAM. The fee they say is 75,000 per year but after adding some amenities, it becomes 90,000. For Management, it's 1.5 lakhs but if you have good rank in KEAM, you get a scholarship so have to pay almost 50,000 only. That's cheaper than government seat.

Campus Life :

Overall, the campus life is good. But there is inequality between the rules for girls and boys at hostels. The curfew time for girls is 6 p.m. where for boys is 9.00 p.m or at certain cases, unlimited. Other than that, the library facilities are excellent and it also offers a peaceful environment where we can study with utmost concentration. As of sports , for girls there is volleyball, football and basketball withproper training and coaches . And for boys there is basketball, volleyball and cricket with proper training and coaches. In classroom, we have digital screen which teachers use to teach, write or show any videos or presentations. We have a student portal for every single student with unique id and password, which displays marks of exams, attendance, dues, staff evaluation and lot more. The study materials are either provided by the teachers via WhatsApp, gnomio or Google classroom. If not, the materials are available on YouTube or ktunotes.in .

Hostel Facilities :

In a room , usually it's 3 people. There is sick room downstairs, which can be used by any student who is very sick. Separate bathrooms and toilets are available. Mess is within the hostel, at the ground floor. Mess fee is 135Rs per day. Only during Christmas or Onam holidays, they provide full Mess cut. During other leaves , Rs 20 will be charged per day. The food quality is bad. There has been issues of food poisoning. Every semester, the Mess menu will be changed based on the discussions in the meeting held by Mess committee. During the admission process itself , based on our hometown, we can decide and register for hostel. There will be a caution deposit of 5000 Rs. The hostel rents is Rs 1750 per month.

Admission :

The eligibility for btech is above 60% in Physics, chemistry and maths in 12th. KEAM entrance exam is also required if you are looking for government/ management seat which are cheaper than NRI seats. You just need to qualify KEAM to get into management seat but you need to get good rank to get into government seat. Further application details can be found on Google or the college's phone number is provided on Google. So we can call and enquire more details.

Faculty :

Most of the faculty members of are department are good. They love teaching and do not burden us to study it ourselves. But a faculty member who was also assigned the duty if being our college's placement officer where allotted to teach us a subject. And he's always busy with the placement cell. So he doesn't get the time to teach us properly. He's always allotted tough subjects which require proper teaching. Many students have failed in his subject too. Even after this incident in 4th semester, he has been allotted twice to us.

Other Applied Colleges

Delhi Technological University - [DTU] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Electronics & Communication Engineering)

I got merit seat in FISAT.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually the university curriculum is bit old fasion.Like the technology is a way head of the things that we are studying in the sessions. But the basis are well learned from it.The improvement we need in that is that to get out of the instituion as a proffesional that can handle the new technolgy that the real world work in.The curriculum is need to improve so much as per the technology improves the students want to know what all changes that are happening in the real world and they want to be trained according to that.

The Semester exams are tough. Electronics and biomedical engineering is a growing field that offers high chances to students in the future. I like how technology and medicine are totally different and we can join this way.

In the 7th and 8th semesters, the students become eligible for campus placements. Infosys, and Spyridian, are the companies that often come for placements .3 -4 lakhs is the highest package given by these companies. The percentage of students getting placement is about 50-70. My plan is to go for higher studies or to go for a job.

As there is a course outcome and course theory all the topics and modules are taken on the basis of this. All classroom are digital and there is proper lights and fans. And because of that it is the perfect environment for teaching and also students to learn.Exams are taken on series levels and semester levels. They are moderately difficult

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
